This game is broken and does not use the proper rules of the actual Monopoly board game (do a Google search). From personal experience it glitches enough to ruin the game. I do not recommend.

The PS3/Xbox 360 generation Monopoly Streets is much better.

Why would steam be required to play an Xbox game?

I got this late last year on sale. It doesn't always stay true to the traditional rules. For example, you can still add houses/hotels or suggest trades at the end of your turn, instead of having to wait until the beginning of your next turn. It adds a different dynamic to the game in that if you just happen upon some cash from passing go or a through a chance card, you can use that money right away to improve a property chosen based on where your opponents are sitting before their next turn.
There are other little nuances like that, but Despite it being a different game, we still found it to be fun and playable.
Edit: A few folks have commented about it being broken. I think that if your xbox is connected to the internet where it can download the updates, the game will not be broken. I hasn't been broken since I first got it in November. It all works, it is just oddly designed.

According to Amazon Q&A, no steam account required
It's not a PC code.

On the product description page it says this....

System Requirements:

Supported OS: Microsoft xBox One

Steam account required for game activation and installation

I think that is wrong and it's misinformation the q&a was just clarifying that steam is not required.

Welcome to Amazon. I always check reviews and seller account reviews before digital purchases. I also use reviewmeta.com to help with suspect purchases as well. Amazon is a cesspool of fake product reviews.

This is no lie about being broken. Completely unplayable the last time we tried. Got to where houses etc couldn't even be purchased.

I really want this but have an unwritten rule about buying broken games... I don't do it.

Ha! I almost put in parentheses (only written this once). But... how will anyone know what the unwritten rule is if I do not write it when commenting in an online forum?
