According to Eufy, there's no 3 second pre-record if wired. And wireless means every 6 months or sooner you need to take it off, charge and then put it back.

I don't understand how a newer model lacks basic features that an older model has.
I'm still in the return window for the first gen wireless doorbell. I have a couple concerns with this new doorbell
1. I don't understand why the 3 second pre-record would not exist on this newer model.
2. I have all my tech "gear" in a central location in the basement. I have APs all over the house. I have a dedicated SSID for security gear. I'd rather the doorbell connect via my massively covered wifi network than have to deal with a possible spotty connection to the homebase thing.

Am I wrong in thinking I would not see advantage to this new doorbell + homebase ?

So has anyone received theirs yet, and set it up?

Trying to setup mine and the eufy security app isn't in the Google Play store.

So does this model in addition to losing 3 second prerecord also not have motion/people detection to save on battery (like recording UPS guy that delivers package but doesn't ring doorbell), even in wired mode? Any feedback from customer service if this will be added soon?

EDIT: Seller just responded on amazon that it doesn't. That's a deal breaker for me now as well, I will return it and keep the old wired model.
According to the Amazon description it does have motion and people detection, just not continuous recording. I think the seller misunderstood your question.

I'm using the Homebase 2 with wireless cameras. It uses it's own WiFi signal to communicate with the cameras. The base is what connects to your WiFi.

From my experience, the connection range to the wireless cameras is great with Homebase 2. One camera is at least 200 feet away and not in the line of sight with the base. No connection issues. I don't think I could get this with WiFi only.

This is one data point and everyone has a different set-up. If I didn't already have the original wired doorbell, I'd buy this. Not clear when this can be purchased without the base unit.

Not having the 3 second pre-buffer is a deal breaker for me. I'm sticking with the non-battery version.

Yes it has 160 degrees of view, you will probably need to use the 15 degree wedge. Essentially the same situation as my setup with no issues other than a little bit of fish-eye of the door but perfect clarity of the walkway leading to the door.

Installing the doorbell, anyone use a 1/4" (6.3mm) drill bit instead of the recommended 15/64" (6mm) bit? I'm having some difficulty looking for a 15/64 masonry drill bit.

Any tips on installing the battery powered version to a metal gate? No existing holes to re-use.

Did you install it 48" high?

I have the eufy doorbell as well as 2 Eufy spotlight cams. At first, I couldn't get the floodlight cams to work with Alexa show 5,but now they work fine. Love this setup. Just swapped out the doorbell from a ring for the onboard storage of the eufy.

Yeah you are right. So what is up with 3 seconds recording that everyone is talking about? Shouldn't setting up detection zone work like 3 seconds recording?

i.e. when the UPS guy is in the detection zone it will start recording even when he doesn't press the doorbell?

I can't imagine they have a 6 month battery life while continuously monitoring the detection zones. But I am also wondering what these zones are good for then.
