If I'm going to be honest. I don't know much about this item. I was browsing amazon and saw it was on sale. Let me know some thoughts as I am looking to purchase.

I've had my eye on this model for a bit now, mostly because it supports HomeKit. My furnace doesn't have a C-wire, so I also needed the converter that's included with this unit... all in all, it was pretty easy to install. Steps are clear and easy to follow. I had no problem getting it talking to HomeKit, so telling Siri to adjust the temperature and setting up a schedule was cake.
There are plenty of online reviews of this unit, and they're all accurate. This unit gets the job done, is well made, integrated well with smart ecosystems you probably use already... and is ugly. The user interface isn't great, but since I'll only be using it through my phone, I wasn't bothered too much by it.
The only thing it's missing compared to something like a Nest is that there's no sensor on it. It doesn't detect when you walk by to help "profile" you.. which honestly is the reason I bought it. I hated my Nest and how I had to fight with it to have it do what I wanted, not what it thought was better for me. If letting the thermostat do it's own thing and never touching it is what you're after, this probably isn't the unit for you. But if you want to control and automate on your own terms, the Honeywell is a solid choice.

Geofencing isn't the greatest on this. I've left the house and been 20 miles away, and it says I'm still home. I've been home from night until morning and it still thinks I'm away. Then other times it works like clockwork. It's a bit annoying knowing it's costing me money. It was the only reason I upgraded to it. I had their lesser wifi programmable one before.

The $87.00 at HD's is not the plus version which is currently going for $149.99. The T5 plus includes the c-wire power adapter for systems that require it.
