I'm confused. Are you saying one should buy the genuine toner or are you saying you can refill the toner and shake it to even out the ink? I'm sure there is a way to refill the toner but all the newer printers have chip that counts pages so the shaking and refilling won't do you any good. I'm asking if this printer does the page counting and stop working completely when the limit has been reached. Right now I'm paying $15 for toner refill and new IC chip for a different laser printer brand I'm trying to replace. Thanks in advance.
Buy genuine stuff. Don't try to refill anything. You can shake and shake until the last toner crystal is used since the Brothers can be set to continue to print even after toner is low (ie no chip to stop you!). Applause

Except that for much of he Brother lineup, this one included, there's simply no scan to email available even on the web interface. Go ahead and ask support they'll tell you the same thing. Since you think 6000 pages on a single drum is noteworthy I'm going to go ahead and assume that you dont really know what you're talking about.
Scan to email is ALWAYS hard to set up because you need to have an email server to do it--you can't just send email without an email address. LMAO And setting this up is too hard for anyone that isn't willing to read the network admin guide and even then you'll need to know what you're doing to get it working. That's probably why the feature is missing on this more basic model.

Since you can't understand my point about the drum, I don't think you really know what you're talking about since you can't read. Peace

You are too funny. Since fanboys are a waste of time to talk to, you have yourself a great weekend.

I buy the cheap chinese crap tn 760 on amazon for 14 dollars each. they last far longer than my original starter toner but i do know the starter toners are bad

Just go with a ccc with good reviews and save a lot of money for the same performance
Except that after about 50k pages (or earlier depending on how bad the compatible stuff is), you'll kill components that will require service to repair. It's no different than using junk parts to fix your car--sure you'll get down the road--but at some point you'll break down with major repairs.

If you rely on your printer to do the job consistently, I wouldn't cut corners on the supplies. Especially when you won't really need to worry about replacements with home volume.

Not a fanboy--I've got HPs, Okidatas, Lexmarks, and Panasonic lasers as well. I've seen the whole gamut, and the Brother products are the best bang for the buck, but are more delicate than the commercial quality HP, Okidata, and Lexmarks so you need to make sure you use genuine stuff if you want them to last. Brothers are awesome for home and it's what I have in my home for that very reason.

CDW is one of the largest IT distributors to corporate customers. Their competition is companies like Provantage, PCConnection, Zones, etc.

These items are outlet items--items that may have been returned, overstock, or clearance and may be slightly imperfect (missing a manual and original packaging, etc), but otherwise factory fresh and considered brand new by the manufacturer with full warranty.

I buy stuff from the outlet all the time, and have been buying from CDW since the 1990s. I hate seeing these good deals go to waste so I'll post them up once in a while if someone is looking for something and it's a solid deal.

The caveats are that they only have one item in stock per cdw sku, and it can go fast so DON'T order online--call in to order and confirm stock before placing the order. Because otherwise it will take a week to get an 'out of stock your order cancelled' email and you'll be bummed.

They ship out of Vernon Hills, IL so if you're close to there you can go in an pick up will call. I used to do that when I lived close by--it was great for picking up heavy stuff like UPS units. Enjoy!

Received the printer and got it hooked up last night and I'm impressed. It was super easy to set up wirelessly from my computer. Scanning works great with the included Brother software. Printing is super fast and good quality. No complaints here!
