Excellent cooler. Cannot match cooling/$ when this goes on sale.

you need a pretty giant case to fit it. even the huge ass Core V1 case only accommodate up to 140 mm cooler.
Most standard ATX cases will work, you don't need a giant case, just make sure you look at the case specs before purchasing. The Core V1 is not a normal case. The PSU is underneath the motherboard so that's why there's not that much room above the motherboard for a tall CPU cooler. Plus if you're building an ITX, you probably want SFF, or you might as well get mATX.

potentially silly question from a computer-building novice here - a while ago, my fan started making very loud cranking and jarring sounds. I took it out, but left the heatsink on. Is there an option for me to simply buy a new fan and clip it in? Or do I have to buy myself a whole new unit?

it's very tall. even in my large case it barely cleared. Left scratch marks on my plexiglass

Is this better than the cooler bundled with the r5 3600? Is it easy to clip onto AM4?

Recently had the same problem happened. Replaced the fan with a higher quality one. The clips on mine screwed into the fan (they were behind the rubber pads on the fan corners) so it was easy to just take a stock fan and mount it.

Most ATX cases will fit this. The Core V1 is a Mini ITX case with limited room.
I have a 159mm cooler (Dark Rock 4) in my ATX case (Meshify C) with plenty of clearance.

Yes and yes. For a budget cooler it will be better than the stock one. There's tons of videos showing how it's installed too.

I love mine (non LED version) and it cools my i9 9900k just fine. *I do have 2 intake and 2 outtake fans in my case.

I wouldn't consider the average midsize tower to be a pretty giant case. I had the non led EVO and now the Black Edition EVO in midsize towers of unremarkable size and they fit perfectly well. Most recent case with the black edition of this cooler is the Corsair Carbide 275, and the prior non-black was an older gen Antec Sonata

Honestly the black edition is going to look much better in most cases IMO.

The LED is a no-go in my opinion especially if you have RGB in your case.

Personally I would spend the extra $10 for the black edition or if you want LED spend $20 for the RGB black edition. You can plug the RGB fan into an RGB header on your motherboard and control the colors and stuff that way.

This is good for a budget build or if you don't care about aesthetics but again IMO either of the black editions looks way better. I just upgraded my PC build that was ~7 years old and I was going to reuse my old Hyper 212 but decided to buy the black edition. It looks a lot better.

This will probably cool a little better, but not worth it. Plus the prism looks so much better than this.
