MAKE SURE THEY INSTALL THE "TILT SWITCH." ITS DANGEROUS NOT TO HAVE IT.

EVERYONE Should OPEN THERE HOOD and MAKE SURE IT WON'T REMOTE START BEFORE THEY SIGN THE PAPERWORK AND LEAVE.

I think its in case you accidentally hit the unlock button before you get in the car. Either way, i've never seen much of an issue with the cart shutting off right as you get in and you just start it up again. I don't know about other manufacturers, i just know newer Toyota's have this feature.
I just got this installed in my '15 Subaru Impreza with push button. Even if you unlock and get in without the key the car shuts off if you hit the break to shift into geae. With the key in the car there is a smooth hand off with no restarting the motor.

Ah see there's the difference and cause for concern: a key. My wife's Rav4 is push-button start. I think the feature where the car shuts off is on newer Toyota's with pushbutton rather than key.
All PUSH BUTTON Toyotas shut off when the door is open. It's not really a big deal

I don't understand.

Are you saying that on Toyota/Lexus with push button start the remote start works, but the car shuts off when you get into the car?
Yes. Toyota push to start car and some other makers also shut off when you open the door. You have to start it up again

Got this installed few weeks ago from the last time it was tbis sale. 100% recommend.

Great signal distance. Goes through my works entire building from my seat. Lots of thick manufacturering walls.

Didn't lose any car features.

Car: 2015 Q50S AWD (every package)
Do you still need to carry the original key fob to open the doors and start? I have a 2014 Q50S AWD, dont want to carry an additional key around..

Is anybody else seeing a $99 charge for the idatalink wiring harness included in the install package? I'm getting this for a Kia and it seems I'm forced to buy this $99 harness as part of the package.

Anyone find a way around this while still getting the free install and tilt switch?
Call BB and maybe they can add the wire harness to your order. Tell them it says free install with T HARNESS INCLUDED. worth a try

I had this in my Hyundai Azera. If you just got in the car it would turn off. If I unlocked it with the fob it would keep running. It seems like a good security feature.

I actually consider this as a worthwhile security feature. Someone can't just jump into the car and drive off because you remote start it.

I've been looking for an aftermarket remote starter for my wife's new Rav4 but my only hesitation is bad experiences with Best Buy installs in the past...
Call your local BB and ask to speak to the AUTOTECH and ask him any questions you might have. If you don't vfeel comfortable with his answers then call another BB . Most people have a couple in their area.

Not all INSTALLERS are good. Just like anywhere else.

If they use a T HARNESS then it's just about PLUG AND PLAY. It's the best way if they have one available for you car

I just bought a new one for a new car. I had to go to the store and they zeroed out the harness.

PSA: Order from a web or touch browser, NOT the Best Buy app. The app will not add the installation and will charge the full price even if you somehow add the installation manually. The web browser will have prompts for installation as you add this to your cart.

I've had this installed on my mom's acura, cousin's Mazda, and an uncle's Nissan. They all love it especially in the Midwest cold. In some cases the oem FOB was ABLE to start the car as well.

Only problem was the Best Buy install. It was fine, until one day on the side of the road I was replacing the mangled serpentine belt and the truck decided to start. I guess I was leaning over the front grill and had the start button pressed in my pocket for more than two seconds. My bad for not disconnecting the battery first. Not sure how I still have an arm or fingers... Evidently they didn't install the tilt switch or any mechanism to not start if the hood was raised.
It's not your bad. Its their bad. The kit comes with a hood switch and is a completely necessary safety device. The manufacturer requires them to install one or insure that the factory hood pin is integrated into the remote starter to insure the safety of anyone working under the hood. The installer took a shortcut and they did the same during my install. I noticed it and made them fix it. You should as well. They are MECP accredited installers and this is part of the training and yearly recertification process. Let them know that they almost cost you some limbs and make them do it right. There should be no additional cost.

FYI. I purchased this during the last FP deal. They were unable to install on my 2017 Outback.
