In the middle of the South Pacific, a thousand feet below the surface, a huge vessel is unearthed. Rushed to the scene is a team of American scientists who descend together into the depths to investigate the astonishing discovery. What they find defies their imaginations and mocks their attempts at logical explanation. It is a spaceship, but apparently it is undamaged by its fall from the sky. And, most startling, it appears to be at least three hundred years old, containing a terrifying and destructive force that must be controlled at all costs.

Good Sci-fi. One of Crichton's better ones, in my opinion.

I should change it to quick and easy read. The scifi component isn't too tedious so the general audience can easily understand those concepts. I really didn't realize it was that long, as the read was a few years ago.

I agree, there's just no blockbuster writer like him. JP, Sphere, Congo were all so much fun. That said, by his heyday in the 90s it was becoming obvious he was settling into a template that was starting to get long in the tooth.

It's a good one, but how many more "team of quirky scientific men (and one woman) go to investigate some scientific phenomenon man was clearly not yet ready to harness" stories can come from one man?

I DO have some kindle credits, I GUESS I can use it on this? (I literally can't think of anything else, I just get everything digitally from the library)

Short read? 500+ pages is short?

I really miss his writing. With the exception of just a few books, I have loved many of them including Sphere.

Book much better than the movie. Sharon stone was a bad choice for Beth.

My favorite book as a kid. The movie couldn't do it justice.

First Crichton book I ever read. Randomly started reading it when I was in middle school and couldn't put it down. Loved it.
