some of these items are cheaper on backcountry.com so check there as well before buying anything

Its REI people, they still think it's the 90s and you can't score deals at all. The last brick and mortar company that hasn't gone under due to rich yuppies? Is that the correct stereotype? Shrug

Agreed. I like REI and I'm not a boomer. They have a great return policy, they treat their employees well, and they care about the environment. I'm happy to support their business even if I pay a bit more than Amazon.

The people that work there tend to be pretty well educated on outdoor related activity / gear which I find helpful.

yes, definitely a lot of great employees and they provide essential services and support for recreational activities.. a valuable resource

They do offer some promos from time to time. I got in on the 20$ gift card promo recently and am taking advantage of various discounts to score some niche photo gear at a better price than I can find elsewhere.

All large communities are plagued with disagreement. It's pathetic that people spend their time trying to hurt one another 🤷 ♂️ but some just have nothing better going on
