a jacket is a jacket, people believe Patagonia is better cuz its more hip now and the outdoor cult crowd is telling them its better, biased perception/placebo whatever you want to call it
It's been called Patagucci since before the trendy NF fleece kids were born Wink

I've got tons of NF stuff that's great, some that sucks. Mountain Hardwear, same deal. Everything is line-by-line now, brands are all but pointless.

Honestly, Columbia has never let me down when you consider the low price point.

I pillage their outlet store whenever I can. I get their PFG long sleeve fishing shirts and they're awesome as a base layer in the winter.

how does it compare with patagonia r2?
As an owner or both this jacket and various Patagonia jackets this is similar to Patagonias R1. Hope this helps. Don't mean to hijack this thread, just wanted to throw something out there. Right now a jacket that would be great to pick up is the Adidas Power Air. Polartec recently came out with a "new and improved" power air fabric so now the hoodies using the original power air are going on sale. Comparable to a Patagonia R1 but a little warmer and it feels so soft and smooth when you have it on.
