How long will I wait until I receive a new number assigned by Sprint after I pre-order with BB? Is the new number coming with the s20 at the same time or it may appear in my account earlier than s20 arrives ? Thanks.
Yes, the new number will come with your phone .you have to activate it when you get your s20.

Where does the requirement to port your number out come from? Will sprint not let you just swap the numbers on something like this? What does porting out entail exactly? Do I have to activate a phone on another carrier to get that number ported?

you don't have to do that if you are just adding a new line. You only have to do that if you want to add a line AND close a line (e.g. a fancy version of upgrading your existing line)

i am not sure what u mean by binding....but let me try and help.
...
Something like this seems to be a good way to get s20 without dealing with Samsung with their jacked up prices...so with this process...

1.) Can the new line be on the same unlimited plan that I have w/Sprint? This plan has currently three lines with it.

2.) How do you port the phone # associated w/Line A (you would need to start another plan with another carrier, correct? This line and the phone have been paid off, but would like to keep the number) and how do you port the #A back to Line B (Line B is the new line/account has been added to get s20)?

I would get a cheap phone from the acceptable list of phones can be traded in and send that one.

You can get it at sprint too for the same price but lease.
I'm glad I don't have to put $600 down like tmobile .
Leasing through Sprint website is much worse than BB 24-month installments, isn't it? Because with lease we only get $41.67*18 total credits and extra pay-off after the lease ends, while installments give us $41.67*24 total credits, presumably we want to own it in both cases.

1. yes
2. port to google voice then back. EDIT: actually, port to Google Voice and never port back. Your old number will be your GV number act as a proxy, you never have to worry about changing phone number behind the proxy ever again. Smilie

Mad omg. I'd like to confirm the trade-in promotion as soon as possible, in case Sprint dishonors the promotion before I receive the s20.
Thank you for your information, very helpful. Truly appreciate.

1. not sure what plan requirements are for s20 deal..

2. lots of options for 1 month port, 1 week port etc.
visible, h20, etc etc...

they way it works is that an time u can port over a line.
for example, u can tell s, that u getting random calls wit the new line b...sprint is loose about that, u just need to make sure is coming from non sprint family of carrier (ie no boost, or virgin, or ting, or tello, etc.)...so port away to a non sprint or its mvno...

2. i think this will cost 20. i know a few people do this. but i would advise against using gv as main #....my 2.reasons...1. latency, 2. need for data..

i am not sure what u mean by binding....but let me try and help.

so u have line A with phone A (paid off and yours completely) with real number A.

now u add a line B with s20 with new number B.

now u port out line A, phone A, #A to something like tmobile or att or Veizon.

then after a day or 2, u port back #A into sprint over line B #.

u can do this because the line is now coming from a non sprint carrier.

the key point is that the new line b has to be kept open with s20, regardless of number.

this is my understanding
Thanks for sharing your understanding, but I still don't understand completely. My apology for my stupidity.
The question is that a line is a number, and a number is a line. How can you swap numbers without affecting lines? "u port back #A into sprint over line B #." Did you mean port back #A to replace #B?

correct.

#a will replace #b...#b will disappear...u will be left w only 1 line, with s20 and real #a.

port over from non sprint family carrier is a must to be safe

thanks but I would hesitant to use the main number as GV because lot of services do not accept GV number as a valid number. It has to be a registered cell number.

Although I do not know what happens to a GV number that was once a valid registered cell number.

to clarify...

the below 2 posters are the ones that came up with this very genius strategy that i have tried to explain above few posts.

You can with a little work if you want to keep your existing Sprint number. First you add a new line for this deal and then you port your existing Sprint number to another carrier and back to the new line. You can change/port in number and change plan on the new line at any time. The only requirements to receive the bill credits are to keep the new line and phone installment payment active. I have done this many times, and there are many other creative alternative solutions to get new deals for existing Sprint customers. Stick Out Tongue

Yes.

You can add a new line with regular plan onto your SWAC account and then change that regular plan to a SWAC plan. To do this, you have go to the Best Buy store and ask the Best Buy rep to call Sprint from the store and add the regular plan for this deal to your SWAC account. You can't do this on bestbuy.com because the Best Buy portal does not recognize SWAC account. Later you change that regular plan to a SWAC plan by logging into your SWAC account and choose change plan. You can mix different plans on the same account. Many have done this in the past to take advantage of deal like this. Stick Out Tongue

I'm surprised this is not getting much love. This is the same deal back in 2018 when iPhone xs released, you pretty much get the phone for free by trading in a crappy phone. I have a cracked px3 and I'm planning to get this S20.

Something that could make this sweet based on my personal experience:
Always adding a new line, and close your existing line so you get the full credit, even if you can't close your line now it is still a good deal since a new line cost only 250/year
Check in store at BBY, they some times give out $100 BBY gc when u purchase phone in storr
