Geez, a lot cheaper than the $299 3-pc Orbi I just bought from Costco. How does this compare to that?

Please enlighten me as to why this is true.

I read a CNET review that said that it was "too expensive" but performed well and all the reviews of it at various other sites seem to have given it decent ratings.

This is a dual band. I think the Orbi's are tri-band, in which one of the bands is dedicated to use as communication between the orbi's. Think this will free up bandwidth on the other 2 main bands.

You see that in reviews for every system.

For $149, this is a good mesh router. HomeDepot is selling the Google WiFi 3 pack for the same price in stores (Clearance). More deals might popup for WIFI 5 (802.11ac) router because WIFI 6 (802.11ax) started coming.

I just bought a AC2200 tri-band TP-Link Deco M9 for m Costco (3 pieces) for $199. This Velop is cheaper and is AC3600. Does this mean Velop is better (has higher bandwidth)?

The package from Costco is still unopened and I can return it, if need be.

if you can do wired ethernet so that it uses that as the backhaul communication between the nodes, then its a good buy.

Keep the M9... That's a highly rated model with Tri-Band.

I had issues with mine as well until I decided to keep my Asus router in charge of everything other than wifi and used these as slaves for wifi. They are all gigabit wired back to the router as well.

Yes. These are lousy when one is used as the router but (and I know I'm jinxing myself) ever since I've used them downstream as wifi only, they are solid. I have 3 three band and 2 two band units and I can stream music now at every corner of our 3 acre lot. I can't wait for mowing season to get here again.

Considering this deal to replace my 2 band units.
