But Waze doesn't detect anything. Waze only reports and is only as good as its user input. Don't get me wrong, I use Waze and don't own a radar detector, but I wouldn't consider Waze a replacement exactly.

Does Waze help late at night on rural backroads where cops are hard to see? Doubt it unless someone ahead of you had magical eye sight.

Amazon has it for around $446, I believe. Unless you buy refurb, that's about the best price you'll find on an R7.

What if the cop isn't using radar but timing lines?
Then you ask him to show you the radar.

Haha there's always that one person to TC a radar post. I use waze, almost religiously on my commutes. But I also have a radar for when the cop is not reported and both have saved my ass numerous times.

I just bought it from Sam's club online. So far I'm liking it. Good distance for picking up cops. It gets good reviews too. There is a firmware update for it too. It's a good price for a high rated dector

I have a very easy way to avoid a traffic ticket.

Obey the law as written.

It's really not that hard, and actually easier than scanning around, wondering if a cop is hiding behind the next bush. Save your brainpower! Integrity is doing the right thing, even if no one is watching. If you think the traffic laws are unreasonable in an certain area, then approach your legislator and work to change them. You don't need this expensive, somewhat annoying toy to try and evade law enforcement.
You're telling me you don't go a few mph over the limit? 55mph hwy speed and you drive 55? Please stay the heck out of the left lane. Where I live average is 70mph
