Insane achievement in cinematography, one tracking shot for practically the whole film, shot in real time. Has to be viewed in 4K. First gasp of breath doesn't come for almost a half hour in. Look up Roger Deakins films, they all have a scope that really sets them apart.

The movie was very underwhelming. While the movie was ok and worth a watch, it really is only a one time watch. Note this movie didn't have the type action the previews led onto believe.
It was shot by Deakins so this comment is false.

Not an action film like Saving Private Ryan but a great war film regardless.

While I want to see this again in HDR I am not sure I need to own it.

It is a WW1 film. Compared to WW2, WW1 wasn't as "exciting" and "action-packed". One of the reasons why there isn't a lot of films based on it.

It will port to iTunes through MA.
Porting is by general category of quality. SD, HD or UHD/4K. Whether it is DV or HDR is up to the individual provider you watch on, not where you originally purchased the movie.
iTunes hasn't updated their listing to 4K yet, but they will have it in 4k, DV HDR to be determined.

I saw this twice in the theaters and after the 2nd time, that night I had one of the most vivid dreams ever in my life that I was a rifleman in a battle in the same nighttime environment towards the end of the movie. I distinctly remember running house to house, room to room and finding either germans and shooting to kill, or French civilians that I tried to tell to hide and stay low and turn off the lights. Eventually I ran out of ammo and remember how how terrifying it was being forced to flee for my life. That's the kind of effect this movie had on me.

Roger Deakins is no doubt talented but here are some of his movies I wouldn't Watch again nor Buy:

The Assassination of Jesse James, Barton Fink, The Man Who Wasn't There, The Goldfinch, A Serious Man, Kundun, Revolutionary Road, Hail Ceasar, Unbroken, Intolerable Cruelty, Sid & Nancy, 1984, In Time, The Reader, Stormy Monday, The Company of Men....

Sad this is being upvoted.

This movie is an instant classic.

If you judge movies by "action level" only keep watching mindless comic book movies.
