I've had one since beginning of December and love it. The brightness setting can get very low but still a bit bright if you're trying to read in the complete dark.

I HIGHLY suggest getting a hand strap or pop socket to attach to the back so you can better hold it. Since it's touch screen, without any assistance I found myself adjusting my grip/finger placement and I'd inevitably accidentally turn a page.

The hand strap I bought is "TFY Security Hand Strap with Leather Belt Holder Stand Compatible with Kindle Voyage, 6Inch / Kindle Paperwhite/Kindle Fire 6Inch". It's $11 currently on Amazon and very much worth it.

You should be able to side load books just by transferring them through USB. If you are trying to convert epubs to kindle format, yes Calibre can do that for completely free.

Great price. Probably the best Kindle you can buy without spending too much on the other models.

The Kindle Paperwhite is the model to get, as it has a built-in backlight and Audible support, and this is a great price. Even better if you have an older Fire tablet or Kindle to trade in.

Best part about these is that their batteries last forever. I took mine on a set of flights not too long ago and even after 10+ hours of reading I still had tons of battery left.

So I have an old 6 inch model from 2011 Im trying to trade in along with this purchase. The trade in claims 15gc plus 20% off code for new purchase. The email claims this should be automatically applied but I'm not seeing anything on it in the checkout process. I am seeing a different code for 15% off plus 20 in e credit which I'd prefer anyways but best would be combining both. Anyone know if this is possible?

edit: nevermind, looks like the coupon isn't valid until after trade in occurs. quite annoying but thinking worth moving forward with this since it comes out to 55 or so as I know I'll use the credit.

Yes it works with Calibre and also with Libby (if you also have a library card). Also has Goodreads integration. More feature-rich than the older kindles.

Trade-In are hit or miss with the funds being instant. I have done it three times and twice I was able to get the fund immediately while one of them I had to wait.

The 20% off was instant for all three if I am not mistaken.

Also, I had no success at all for them accepting my trade-ins as they kicked them back with no reason even though they were in darn near perfect condition. I still got the 20% off, so it still worked out for me.

Lastly, if you are on the fence, get the paperwhite! It is phenomenal as an e-reader and lasts forever on one charge.

Hey guys, just in case those of you might be on the fence of buying this I had an older paperwhite that gave me charging problems. The port would no longer charge. I had to do some weird maneuvers to get the USB a certain way for it to charge. The problem might surface later just a FYI.

I went with the Kindle Voyage which has a different USB charging port.

If only it were color - I would jump on a nice tablet with color for comic books and books/magazines in general, maybe some web surfing occasionally...ah who am I kidding, I want to watch movies and occasionally stream music as well. Looks like I need to hold out for a solid deal on a Samsung tablet or ipad or Fire HD 10...
Yes, sounds like you need a tablet. The Kindle is good to have alongside the tablet as it doesn't hurt your eyes when reading.

I was waiting for this to come back down for a long time before I decided it wasn't big enough. I can't for the life of me understand how so many people read books on such a small reader. 6" isn't even the page size of a small paperback and for larger non-fiction hardcover books, you have to flip through like 5 pages per single page of the book.
