Keep in mind Sony G series come with a faster mediatek processor and are able to upgrade to android Pie. They also support AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. If you don't care about this or a faster android experience than go with the F series (I have a 900f and do care😅)

I chose the future proofing and went with the 950g. Best Buy had the htz9f sound bar $200 off when I bought it with the tv. The combination is awesome. I updated from an 8-10 year Sony. I like to buy latest tech and keep it for a long time.
what exactly are you future proofing???

you can buy any number of streaming boxes that do that, for 50 bucks.

I have the 950 for the improved processor which barely keeps up with Android TV, can't imagine how crappy it is on the 900. If you're not interested in the smart features and Android TV performance in general then stick with the 900.

I didn't pull the trigger on the amazon/best buy/dell deal for $1500 on this a couple weeks ago and am still regretting it. No idea about this site either, would like to know.
just wait long enough....

I got the 65 for 800 during the xmas week on Amazon (that was 899 with a 10% rebate). You can't find that price now, but these things get cheaper, especially if the economy tanks...

1st time potential buyer here to possibly purchase this TV from Greentoe. With no past experience with Greentoe my question is do they charge sales tax?( I live in Tennessee) Is $1,449.00 the out the door price?

Thanks
Greentoe doesn't sell tv , they are just a platform like eBay will connect to other authorized dealers to get the best quote .

Had it for a month or so... No issues.
Me neither. I bought mine on Amazon last Black Friday for $1598 and it's been amazing. Came from a Vizio M series 70 inch that was 3 years old. Picture is great. The HDMI ARC works fantastically well with my Nakamichi soundbar. Can control turning on/off and volume with my Amazon Fire remote. Upscaling of SD content is exceptional. Only disappointment is that Sony is not upgrading the firmware on this model to next level Android but it does not really matter since I use the Fire.

What is "DSE"?
Dirty Screen Effect.

Example below.

Most seen during panning on sports and of course gaming.

Only a few TV dont have enough DSE to really matter. The following are TV without any DSE

1. Plasma...duh
2. Samsung Edge lit models (6 and 7 series) and the rare 740d only at Costco.
3. Sony 900F
4. OLED (this is some banding but not like regular panel DSE.

Here is the Vizio PX tv that most folks rave on slickdeals...but the DSE sucks

You can run this video on your TV to test it

Someday...we will have DSE free TV....oh damm..we did...Plasmas.

I figured that wasnt just Vizio thing. Try turning off CEC setting in the TV menu. That fixed my issue of random turn offs
I had the same issue with mine randomly turning off. I disabled CEC as well and have not had an issue since.

I did try that but it didn't work every time. Issue may have been that the soundbar was an older model (the 54 inch 5.1 model) and the hardware and firmware may have been older. Kept going out of sync in the sense that the TV would go on and the soundbar off or vice versa. Family was not happy and I had to endure regular tech support calls Smilie Am a happy camper now.

Just purchased this exact TV from greentoe for 1599+tax couple weeks back after over a year of checking tv deals on slickdeals. Couple notes:

1. They do have a reputable dealer that they connected me to (very legit company). But there was a couple day lag between order being accepted from the dealer vs. buying directly from say a amazon (so add 2-3 days for processing)

2. Right after I bought the tv, (literally 2 days after before the tv even shipped), the price of the tv went to 1499 on Amazon. I went to greentoe and got a nice "no", then went to the authorized dealer with the same "no". So no real price matching guarantee to be had.

Have this tv and the software is ok. For the picture it is great but usability is low. Sleep mode is buried and makes it a pita to get to. Also using miracast/screencast is hit or miss with my note8. I can use chromecast but would rather cast straight to the tv. in all a good tv and I know sony stands behind their products as I have a 65" version of it and when a part burned out they sent a repair person out to repair it under warranty
Does Sony use Google TV as an OS? I wonder if you can sideload Samsung Galaxy apps and use them to work better with your phone.

The 85" 900f is still ~$3k. Best deal I've seen was on eBay for $2500 + tax. Does anyone have a guess when the 85" will price drop or go on sale? It seems the 75" and smaller are always being price cut or put on sale. It's hard to justify spending almost double for 10".
