I am eyeing on these, but happen to know if there are any cheaper "china brand" alternatives at a fraction of the price with similar features?

There's 2 that are similar. However... the way they diffuse the light is AWFUL, especially on reds. You see the individual LEDs. Also, they are $146ish vs $160 last time I checked. So not much of a difference if comparing 9 panel packs.

Links? I see literally nothing cheaper, and if it is, they have 10-12 shipping, which is a few dollars cheaper at the end of the day.

Nanoleaf needs a competitor badly. Everyone complains about the price yet all the alternatives don't compare in quality, diffusion, brightness, etc. Seems they have the market by the balls and they know it.

Philips should step up its game and take on this market. The fact they're as popular as they are even at the price they are says a lot.

I agree. This is a cool product, but definitely not worth the extreme price tag. I'm waiting for some competition to bring these prices to a more reasonable level (or will just not buy - it is just decorative lights, after all).

Pricing for these is WAY outta whack.

Recession is going to hit this company hard. Selling an elastic good at a luxury price point with no other goods or services? Yeah this company will likely file chapter 11 depending on the length of this downturn.

They are clearing the way for the new hex patterned ones. The triangles are brightest, the squares are significantly lower lumen output. Hex is brightest—at least that's what they told me at CES last year. Pricing is cray-cray, but at the end of the day, nobody holds a candle to these guys and their integrations are legit. If you happen to have a spare NUC, they have software that will read your hdmi output and create optimal background lighting around your tv or monitor—again, a nice touch.

Agree, these are indeed overpriced. But- they are super cool. Needed a few more to complete my project. As good a price as the last ones I picked up around Black Friday 2019 (approx $16/per panel before tax/shipping).
