Need a TV speaker advice please? Built in Going bad

505 68 March 11, 2020 at 07:23 PM
have a Samsung UN55C7000

Wanted to wait until the Xmas deals to upgrade since about 10 years old.
Still looks and works great but sounds like the speaker is going bad especially with the base,

Do they make a external speaker or sound bar and would that turn off the built in speaker?

Thanks for any advice.

Hate to get rid of it just for the speaker.
When I upgrade I may keep this for a bedroom.

You just deactivate the built in speaker via the menu - audio options. Or if it doesn't have that option just keep it on mute. You will be baffled at the sound difference with a speaker bar. I can't listen to any built-in TV speakers anymore, even on top of the line new TV's...they are all crap and will never compare to a good speaker bar and subwoofer setup.

Thanks
Any suggests on a low profile one. My TV with wall mount only stick out from wall 1 7/8".
Most of the sound bars seem large.

Or do the make such a thing. A 17" max wide speaker . That would fit on a cabinet shelf close by Tv

Thanks for the help

The Monoprice SB-200 is the slimmest I've been able to find. You probably won't find anything better for the $52 sale price. If you like bass the SB-200SW adds a wireless subwoofer for $103 sale price. I bought the SB-200 for my parents RV because space was at a premium. I haven't installed it yet, but I tried it and it sounds better than most any small speaker system without a sub.

I will agree. Went from a ~ 10 yo Samsung plasma to a new 82" Q70 but the sound was pathetic. I went and got a soundbar with wireless sub (nice feature) and connected the soundbar via HDMI ARC. Now it acts just like it's part of the TV, don't have to turn it on/off, and the TV remote controls the volume. HELL of a difference in sound quality!

Christmas deals probably won't be that much better then other holidays or sales. Margins are low on TV's so there isn't a ton of room for actual sales. That said it sounds like a sound bar would be a good solution.
