Not only that, he even wore contact lenses to Walmart. Who in this world, at this moment, really needs to wear contacts to Walmart so they can look better? Put your damn 10 lbs glasses on and get the hell in and out Walmart fast.
It wasn't for vanity reasons, it was because with the mask and my small nose, the glasses did not fit well on my face. I'm lazy by nature, had I not thought the glasses would get in the way of the mask or not stay on my face at all, I would not have messed with the contacts. To have the mask securely on my face and be able to see, I felt I needed to wear them.

Also, you might consider people who regularly wear contacts might not have eyeglasses. Both require separate prescriptions and contacts may be a more viable option for someone. It's a good thing you're so judgmental. I like to think that a lot of people, most people, have good intentions for what they do. Who in this world, at this moment, really needs to be judging others instead of worrying about themselves and the more important things.

It still says 2 day shipping. I thought Amazon was only shipping medical supplies?
Quote from nilkilla

That is what headlines suggest. The articles though state that they are only shipping medical and critical supplies to their warehouses. Eventually this could affect what is available for home delivery, but does not currently, directly effect home delivery.

They are only *accepting* supplies incoming.. regular shipping remains but are delayed

I'm not sure about it having no effect. For some reason, things that would normally be delivered same day for me are now taking about 3-4 days.
Quote from Geraldism
:
The impression I got was that medical supplies and essentials will be prioritized for shipping to Amazon warehouses, and doesn't pertain to shipping to customers. But if the warehouses run out of supply of nonessential items, then shipping of those items to customers would be affected.
These are all only part of the story. Amazon is still shipping ALL products OUT of their warehouses. When it comes to products being replenished at their warehouses, they are prioritizing medical and household supplies, and other high demand items. There is nothing in their official releases that says they aren't accepting any other shipments TO their warehouses, just that the other stuff is being prioritized (so TV's or DVD's might sit on trucks or pallets for a while as needed items are unpacked first). There are other sources who have said Amazon is not currently accepting any stock replenishment shipments from third party sellers (i.e. the items "Fulfilled by Amazon" and not the items "Shipped from and sold by Amazon"), though I haven't seen any official acknowledgement of this.

Regardless of all that, the current crisis has definitely slowed down the shipping process for anything I've ordered from Amazon in the past couple weeks.

It was an accident. I pray you never make a mistake. I suspect the CDC is only saying they don't advise the general public to wear them, because (1) contracting the virus is "low-risk", which should likely be updated and (2) because they are in high demand and should be used for the sick and medical workers. I suppose the millions of people in these other countries wearing masks are fueling the infection rate and they are all ignorant. It was announced that we could easily have this pandemic for 12 to 18 months, I suppose that entire time, you won't wear a mask unless the CDC says to go for it.

Again, I did not go out and buy masks, I already had them. I may have used hand sanitizer, I cannot recall. I did not ask for your criticism, but knew with my comment that the judgmental schmucks would come out of the woodwork.

The point is the mask you have isn't going to keep you from getting sick. They don't filter out airborne bacteria. However. Not washing your hands and no ot touching your face will get you sick. You can try to rationalize all you want. But the science isn't on your side .

I've learned that it's best to just tell stubborn people that they are right, but I'm having a hard time doing that this time around. I'm sure you know science quite well. Thanks for enlightening me.

I'm not sure what bacteria has to do with this conversation about a virus and N95 masks, but there's some literature below that contradicts your random claim about them not protecting against bacteria.

Study shows superiority of N95 respirators in protecting health workers against bacterial respiratory infections.

http://www.isg.org.au/index.php/n...fections./

An N95 FFR is a type of respirator which removes particles from the air that are breathed through it. These respirators filter out at least 95% of very small (0.3 micron) particles. N95 FFRs are capable of filtering out all types of particles, including bacteria and viruses.

We have one - it's not great.

It takes batteries (no wall plug), it's not very bright, and doesn't have much as far as templates go. Not even sure if it's worth the $$$ at this price.

Eh don't listen to the naysayers. I do work around the house and have a few N95 from sanding. N95 is a specification. Even worn improperly it's better than nothing. It would be at least the same effect as regular surgical masks, that is - prevents you from spreading it - unlike the others walking around.

There's studies that show even a makeshift mask made from shirt fabric is 60% effective (i.e. better than nothing, sorry, can't find link). The hand/face contact is important, though

We all make mistakes and we all learn something new everyday. I'm glad I was able to connect with you through slickdeals of all places and help you become a safer, healthier person.

That's not classic Lite Brite. The real classic is the light bulb in a plastic box that brought joy and fire hazard to 5-year-olds everywhere.

Yeah, and those templates are not easy to find, nor cheap
FYI: Looks like there are printable templates online. Not sure how that'd work exactly (maybe you have to print on black construction paper), but hope that helps. 🙂
