This was a great game. Felt like the older 16bit era RPGs with some inspired mechanics from Bravely Default. Gorgeous art/graphics and a very beautiful soundtrack to top it all off. It didn't have the grindy, bloated end game that Bravely Default suffered from, but some of the character quest lines did drag a little at times. Otherwise, the threads of each characters story interweaved but weren't necessarily dependent of each other.

You wrote Ocotopath Traveler for title. Don't edit and try to act like it wasn't there.
The large letters in the title was written by the moderator. If you look at the "original post" you'll see the OP's post.

Check out howlongtobeat.com for any game. I will use this site to decide which game to play (if I'm in the mood for a 5 hour game or a 20 hour game, etc.). Or in this case, it's reported as 60 hours!
Good to know thanks. With the kids home from school now I think my gaming is done until the fall. So anything above a few hours is out of the question.

Similar to going to movies instead of buying the DVD?

But regardless, let's run through the math.

Current costs:

$30 digital (sale) /$0 resale /$30 net loss
$60 physical (no sale) / $30-45 resale (or less depending on when you resale) / $15-30 net loss (or more) + $time (post, ship, meet, etc, gas,). Time is certainly not worth $0 if thinking rationally.

So would u rather take a perceived $30 loss and enjoy a game, or would you like to pay more for a (maybe) smaller loss?

Your argument might make sense on a brand new game, and certainly if the physical is on sale, but it still has to pass a person's willingness to waste time on reselling for a limited gain. How much is your time worth?

There's also the ease of use of digital vs physical. Swapping cartridges is less convenient than digital, and especially if your switch stays docked. On the other hand, I like to let friends borrow my physical cartridges.

So in reality, thinking rational just means buy what's best overall for you based on what you find more important, not what's best for someone else.
It could be there are other reasons for legitimately wanting to buy a hard copy. I live in a house where we have 3 Nintendo Switch consoles (1 for me, and 1 for each of my kids). When we buy a digital copy it is a total waste because we can't share it. Only option we have is to trade Switch consoles at that point, which sucks. I'm tempted on it because I doubt my kids would want to play it, but I really wish it was a hard copy. Nintendo doesn't care about families at all. That's why they push digital to make more money. Instead of sharing in a family you have to buy individual copies. It would be nice if they found a way to do family digital licenses to fix that issue (they could even charge more than 1 game for family use). There are a lot of households that have multiple Switch consoles. They would never do that of course because they don't care. It's totally a profit line for them, which is why a lot of people avoid digital.

Its a traditional not a strategy to start with. It compares closer to a fnal fantasy style entry for gameplay and difficulty.

Three houses is seriously brutal and I'm a long time Disgaea player. I had to go back to casual to learn how to make sure you don't lose guys because losing people for good is so frustrating.
Ugh yes, I can't seem to pick this game back up for this reason

I wish this had the DOF disable like PC can do. The game plays so well, but motion sickness from screen shake and DOF kills it for me. It's worse than Fallout 4 was. Good deal for a great game, but try the demo before if you get motion sick.

Hopefully Bravely 2 won't have the issue.

i'm playing 3H, not on maddening or anything, but classic hard and honestly i found it sort of easy, but i've been playing for the story so i didn't mind. what do you find difficult?

thinking of doing maddening classic for my third run.
Im just used to Disgaea where you can die all you want between levels. Once I started monitoring every move to make sure i wasnt in danger it was a lot easier. You are probably just good at tactical games. Wargroove is anothet brutal as hell strategy game i had to learn similar skills for.

I think you can share games within a household, right? https://venturebeat.com/2019/09/2...tal-games/

Good point!
Ability to share the game is a really big benefit!

You couldn't be any more wrong lol

Have you ever sold any Switch games online? Switch games hardly ever lose any value when selling them as preowned and Nintendo is fully aware of this

Only reason why Nintendo is offering discounts on digital copies and taking loss(they don't have to because it sells anyway at full price) is because they don't want people to buy other people's physical copies hence losing profit
OK.
Recently sold prices on EBAY:

$32 - 3/18
$41 - 3/18 (Brand new)
$44 - 3/18
$50 - 3/17 (brand new)

Let's just SAY you bought it for $32 on ebay and turn around and sell it for the $50 ebay higher end brand new price:

$50 sale - 6.15%(?) ebay fee - 3% paypal fee
~$45 net
And that's not considering any shipping cost, packaging cost, or time cost.

For a best case $13 profit or break even, that's a giant waste of time and effort IMO.

People have brought up good points on why it's a benefit to own the physical copy, turning a profit on resale shouldn't be the important one.

Also the game is done, they're not "taking a loss" by selling it at a discount for a limited time. If anything, they're gaining buyers that otherwise would've never bought the game (at full price). But i'm sure this is a debatable point.

I would've probably agreed with you if you just mentioned it as one benefit to buying a physical copy vs crapping on people for buying digital like they're some kind of mindless irrational sheep,

edit: You know, a better message could've been that if people don't mind buying used, they can get a physical copy just as cheap on Ebay if they preferred it to digital and didn't mind the wait vs instant download.

Helluva deal! Had my eye on this game for a while. At only 3 GB it really doesn't take much space to download for such a massive game. Square-Enix is throwing out same amazing deals right now.

I disagree but if you loved it, good for you.
As for me, I'm seasoned SQ/Enx player (FF1-12, DQ 1-11 including mystic quest from the 90s + Saga, LiveALive) but Octopath was a huge disappointment for me (along with Setsuna) . The idea of 8 different characters starting out is great (similar to Romancing Saga 1) but the quests / story gets very repetitive. Battles are interesting at first but it gets really boring quickly. Also the hand held screen is too small for this game.. much better on the TV. Just sayin,

To each their own. I thought Octopath was simply amazing. The combat system was refreshing. The music was top notch, and the overall production level is super high.

No need to get aggressive. I haven't edited anything, which means it was either not wrong, or a moderator fixed.
Either way, next time you can be more helpful by specifically telling me how to fix without accusing me of editing and cheating.
Thanks https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...lies/smile.gif
I found what he was talking about. Your post was folded into another post by Subzero5 who shows as the first comment in your post. He did misspell the word as the guy said, but it's not even your post, it's a folded in post to yours.
