Aren't there lemons on every product? I mean a 4.6 rating is really good with over 700 reviews. Can you link a receiver with over 700 reviews that's a 5.0 rating?

I'm not commenting on the deal, just the part of the suggestion to read Costco reviews

There are 70 unfavorable reviews (up to 3 stars) out of 700 - it is 10 % what is high for products sold by Costco.Costco customers are usually very happy with Costco purchases .There is also flood of refurbished units sold by Woot 1 m ago and recently.Probably it is worth to buy with Yamaha warranty but I would hesitate without as some people reported problems several months after buying them what is unusual for electronics

I count 67 out of 708 but whatever. A 3 star review isn't really a unfavorable review, it's a this is OK review. The Denon has a 4.5 rating and most sound bars are between a 4.0 and 4.3 rating so it's not a matter of Costco customers always being happy with their purchase.

I seen quite a few reviews talking about not being able to get the ARC to work. If you go on AV forums you will see this is a common issue with all receivers because TV manufacturers implement it differently. Also I seen a few this is complicated reviews, receivers aren't just plug and play.

Costco has a very lenient return service. So people buy receivers and don't actually know what they are buying while others find them too complicated. Again if you search the AV forums for this model the general thinking is a huge portion of these refurbs are actually open box returns and have only been verified and checked out and not refurbished at all.

I'm not saying this is a 100% guaranteed problem free receiver. But I am saying that every single product on the market has lemons and a 4.6 rating on a product that takes a certain amount of know how is actually pretty good. From the bunch of products I looked up to investigate your claim it looks to me that a big percentage of electronics Costco sells are rated 4.6 or worse.

Even though it's 2 yrs old, is this still a decent receiver for the price?
I got a nice midrange Denon before I needed a 4K version. I'm tired of not being able to just wire everything thru my receiver since it can't do 4k.
Should I get this lesser refurb thing and give up my Denon's Aud XT32 room correction?
Consider the 1yr newer ones posted, an Onkyo or Sony, or jump up to about $550 and get the 1yr old Denon X3500?

I read through those reviews. Most of those people seem like they just don't know how to Hook up and Set up the Receiver.

There are a gazillion features and settings on these compared to receivers from say 8 years ago and they certainly take some time to figure them all out. They're definitely not for everyone.

I have an older, lower Yamaha model and I still had to go read through multiple threads on the AVS Forums to get mine dialed in. And I'm just running a simple Dish, 4K BR player and TCL-6 TV on a 5.1 setup.
