Does anyone use this with a prepaid data plan? What's a good MVNO that uses Verizon? Is this laptop only worth the price if we're going to use the LTE/cell data?

Too bad it is newer, worse version with thicker body and much worser screen. Otherwise I would have considered this

I dont really need data plan. Can always share WiFe from a phone where no WiFi is available.

Powered by the Intel Celeron 3965Y

Due to the missing HyperThreading, the Celeron 3965Y is slightly slower than the similar clocked Pentium 4410Y in some multi threaded benchmarks. The single thread performance is due to the missing Turbo Boost significantly worse than the more expensive Core m3-7Y30 in say this version: XE521QAB-K03US

This should be noticeable in daily tasks.

I am planning to buy similar model (WiFi) from Costco, was hoping for their sale for $299, but this time it is $349. How is the quality of refurbs in woot? Never bought a refurb, is repacked or used? any inputs appreciated.

Depending on how much data you use, maybe one of the Red Pocket yearly deals would be a good choice (5 or 15 GB per month options). Just a thought.

This feels a bit dated, but still likely a nice CB. Owning a Samsung Chromebook Pro (versus this Plus V2), I don't love the keyboard and it's getting a bit laggy; even my wife has noted this. She keeps a bunch of tabs open, so not sure if that has something to do with it.

Edit: reading the thread from others, it looks like this has a different CPU than I expected.

Looks like this Verizon model may only support the following LTE Bands:
LTE Cat.9 B2, B4, B5, B13

https://www.verizonwireless.com/t...ecsHeading

Previous experience with refurb chromebook from woot.com was positive. Looked to be refurbished by manufacturer, but still only carried 90 day woot warranty.

The Costco model may be the lighter silver that, according to this vid, is less aluminum than Stealth Silver (darker silver). Costco also lacks LTE but packs in 64GB of storage vs 32GB of this deal.

FYI, got mine today. It's in basically brand new condition, must've been a customer return. T-mobile SIM card worked with nothing more then a restart after installing.

I got mine in today as well, the condition is great. But the charger they sent with it looked like it should be for a cell phone, was yours the same?

yes forgot to say, they absolutely sent a Samsung cell phone charger. Which is funny, because the 30W PD chargers these come with are quite valuable. It's not uncommon to see these sold on the cheap without them - with you knowing up front - but these were supposed to have them per the description.
