7Cr17Mov is very cheap steel. But the price is good though.

I've got both of these knives, and have gone through two Paraframes (which is also on sale) over the years. The jr. is too small for my hands and hard to open one handed, so I gave it to my daughter. The tanto is okay for what it is. My only real complaint about the Paraframe is that coins got stuck in mine all the time, lol.

These knives are what they are: budget knives made from budget steel at budget prices. Complaining they are 7Cr17MoV is like complaining your Toyota isn't gold plated. They are easy to sharpen and will hold up long enough for the Amazon packages, envelopes and cardboard boxes most of us use our knives on. These are not heavy duty work knives, nor are they premium steel, but there is nothing wrong with 7Cr17MoV when you get it at this price, IMHO.

You aren't going to find better than 8Cr14MoV in a sub $20 knife unless you get really lucky. And heat treatment really maters almost more than the steel used when we are talking about budget steels. Spyderco does fantastic things with 8Cr14Mov in their budget Byrd line. Gerber and the 7Cr and 5Cr they love to use, not so much, but would the average Joe even notice the difference? I'm not entirely convinced the average knife user would.

I'd buy these knives if you like the looks of them and don't have anything sharp clipped in your pocket at the moment. Or if you need an extra knife you can leave in the truck or tool box without worrying about it. If you want something especially nice, go pay $$ to $$$$ for it and enjoy your purchase.
