Bk app is beyond horrendous. I actually like McD's.

2x I placed an order only to find out the store was closed on weekends and I was charged. Had to email for refund. And a third time, it did not print out at the store so I ended up waiting 20min and had to run off without my order cause I was in a rush.

What's the point of these apps "checking-in. " The whole point is to have your order ready when you get there. Just set up a pickup area like Sweetgreen and others.
I've had similar issues at various places. So I started spoofing my location. Order food, spoof my location as being at the restaurant, then check-in at the restaurant and get the confirmation/order number as I leave home.

Hit the drive thru, give them the order number, pick up. Quick and easy. Even at the BK that would otherwise make me pull forward and wait 10 minutes for a burger and fries.

Wow how do you do that?! I get with a VPN on a laptop you can easily "trick" the system into thinking you're in a different country but on a phone?

Tonight my BK had all virus protection in full effect. They held out the card reader, I inserted card, they had the food bagged and sealed up and gave it to me on a tray to take with 0 hand to hand contact. They were also wearing gloves.

Yeah but they still need to prep the food by (gloved) hand. And if the employee is sick or has the virus without being sick, their breathing is going to go straight into the food.

There are various spoofing apps out there. I use one called "GPS Emulator" by RosTeam on Android.

Until I see safer food prep gear being worn at take-out places, they are out of the question. That returning spring breaker coughing on the food, is a health hazard.
Then dont get food at grocery store. Staff that stocked it and other shoppers touched it. Someone touched almost ALL your food pretty recently before you get it no matter where. Take precautions of course, but if your line is someone else touched your food you're gonna be hungry.

Since we have many BK app users here....

Every time I used the double whopper coupon, my store always gives me two double whoppers. It's happened 3x in a row. Only ever get charged for one.

Does this happen for anybody else, or is it unique to my store?

The $3 double whopper one? Never gotten an extra from that one. Does one of the cashiers fancy you?

I've taken to wiping down the packaging from grocery stores with disinfectant when I get home. It's impossible to do everything though so only food that may be consumed soon.

As you said, you can only do so much. It's a probability game and you try to keep that probability as low as possible knowing that it will never be zero.

The BK app lets you check-in manually if you have location services off.

Also, this increases your battery life quite a bit, and sends less data to various data collectors.

The risk from food is probably extremely low (delivery or drive-through, standing in line for take-out in a crowd could be a risk) -- I'm not sure if we even have any documented cases in the studied transmission chains. But it is theoretically a tiny risk. If want to make it basically zero:

Take the food out of the containers and bags, put it on your own plate. Throw away all the packaging. Wash your hands. That's probably the biggest risk.

Then if you really 100% want to be sure, reheat the actual food to at least 160 degrees. Like you would heat up leftovers that were in the fridge.

The biggest risk is probably the doorhandle to the Burger King restaurante, or the restroom, if you go in person.
