Careful with DEET formulations- they will melt plastics, acetate, rayon, spandex, synthetic fabrics (other than nylon), furniture finishes, leather, watch crystal, painted/varnished surfaces, car finishes and some interiors. It does not damage nylon, cotton, wool (Source: https://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ig122).
