Yes, decent deal, especially when it is future proof for Xbox Series X!

My son is on his second one since Christmas. RB button apparently. The replacement Microsoft sent lasted a week. I'm done buying these. 🤦 ♀️

That's why I get the best buy warranty, went through about 6 of the first gen and they just handed me a new one every time I took it back

Costco Citi card adds 2 extra years warranty, right?

Lots of Citi cards have extended warranty protection of 24 months. Lots of Chase cards have 1 year. Also some cards will have Theft/Damage protection for ~120 days. Add in Costco's return policy and I'm ok going for it! Thanks OP

This costs more than I paid for my Xbox One S. Really not digging the price point, especially when you can buy a dedicated steering wheel setup or HOTAS for the same amount...

Damn -- I really want one of these but it sounds like the quality control issues are huge. https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/...egathread/

I'd only buy from Costco because of the warranty - but even then, is it worth it? if it's breaks I have to go return it and deal with it all. I just rather have something that works all the time.

I haven't been able to justify. There's nothing that special about it to be honest. Internals are still cheap.

With Costco easy return policy, you really don't have much else to lose. Try it and maybe you get your luck. Otherwise, return it. Just because it happened to others doesn't mean you will for sure get the same outcome. Sample size are unknown which make it harder to determine the failure rate.

what's the difference between the standard $50/60 controller and the Elite one that cost 2.5x as much?

Thanks.

There is not much of a difference. Swapping of sticks to get the preferred length, additional buttons on the back, and some ability to play with the triggers to cut down on button travel time. In reality, this should be the normal controller or a $20 premium. It's not worth the price IMO. If the switches were of better quality and the internals were stronger, I'd be more willing to buy one, but with it being the same plastic internals, it's not going to handle the abuse. I have a gen 1 that came with my Taco Bell X1X, but I haven't touched it yet.

This controller is a huge difference from the regular Xbox controller. Anyone saying otherwise doesn't make use of the differences. I still agree the price point is terrible and the quality is not any better but if you play a lot of games, especially shooter games, then this type of controller is a must due to the buttons being on the back.

I've been using a series 1 for a few years and the thumbstick has drift which sounds like an issue they didn't resolve in series 2, but it's still much better than a normal controller. Whenever I have to use a regular controller at a friend's house, it's like a big handicap and I don't think I could ever use a regular controller again.

You can also customize a lot about this controller in the Xbox controller app if you want.

Anyways, I'm looking at getting the series 2 due to my thumbstick drift issues and Costco might be the best place to get it from but it's still a lot of money and it's really too bad they didn't fix their quality issues with this new version.

The gen1 controller is great for Forza and Horizon racing games. The ability to switch the depth of the triggers is awesome.

My right thumb stick does drift as well. But after 4 years and using it almost every day, I can't ask for much more. What else can you get that much use out of for costing so little.
