Is there a code or something? Comes up $8 shipping regardless, but I haven't tried checking out.

Tempting but not seeing free shipping. $70 shipping and tax.
What really sucks is I tried to add the $10 off code Academy sent me the last time I ordered a rod from them and it arrived in 27 pieces. The code isn't valid! Nice job not pissing off customers Academy!
My last rod was shipped in a box that was light weight, probably 5x6 inches and 9 feet long. The rod was just sitting in the box, no padding or anything. The box was too flimsy and was bent in half at multiple places.

I think there is an exclusion in the free shipping policy for large and bulky items, and I would imagine a fishing rod might be fallen into that. I tried myself last night when I want to get a President spinning combo lol

Will this hold up with saltwater use? Not really sure what to look for in the metals that will not go well mixed with salt water. TIA

Practically all rods/reels hold up in saltwater if you wash them thoroughly after each use.
