Firephone repair

21 13 March 23, 2020 at 01:15 PM
My Firephone got wet. I opened the case and blew out the water. When I turn it on it briefly shows an Amazon logo and then a text only screen that I have never seen before. The screen has three options: 1. Reboot, 2. Factory reset, and 3. Clear cache.
When I choose the reboot option the the screen shows the Amazon logo and goes back to the text screen.

Is there any chance the phone can be repaired or should I just get a new phone?
Thanks
JG

Get a new phone, this thing has been discontinued for 4+ years and hasn't received a security update in at least that long. There isn't much that can be repaired on a phone that has water damage that makes financial sense. The good news is many new phones have significant water protection.

Except that the company shut down, no more security updates essentially. https://www.pocket-lint.com/phone...phone-ph-1

I am an android person but it's critical people keep them updated. If someone wants to buy a phone and keep it for 4-5 years they are probably better off on an iPhone just because they do continue to get security updates.

They are open phones and you can upgrade to the newer versions of android. The firephone has had no updates either.
