CTEK - Car battery charger/maintaine 7002 - $100.99 / MXS 5.0 $72.77 and other models

Amazon has the CTEK Car charger and maintainer range at great prices. Since you may not be driving much in the coming weeks, you may want to think about connecting your car battery to a battery tender/charger.

CTEK is used by all major brands like BMW / Bentley / Porsche as their OEM supplier. The car manufacturer sticker on it in most cases (at least) doubles the price.

MXS-5.0 / $72.77 / https://www.amazon.com/CTEK-40-20...123&sr=8-5

7002 / $100.99 / https://www.amazon.com/CTEK-56-35...123&sr=8-6

MUS 4.3 test and charge / $91.97 / https://www.amazon.com/CTEK-56-95...123&sr=8-7

CT5 / $92.18 / https://www.amazon.com/CTEK-40-25...NrPXRydWU=

Delivery times are long, but I got CAR-ID to price match on the 7002: https://www.carid.com/ctek/multi-...6-353.html

Yup agreed - need to maintain the charge on idle cars.

Just an experience - I purchased an Autocraft Gold battery from AdvanceAutoParts, it came with 3 year warranty. At 2.5 years - it died, went in for a replacement - the purchase did not show up in their iventory/receipt computer. Luckily i had the online order/pickup email and the store receipt. The amount attitude I got from the store employee was beyond reason. He was blaming me for the computer not showing the purchase. Got a new battery - worked for a year before it too died. Since the original warranty is only for 3 years, it doesnt reset at 2.5. Pretty shitty experience at AAP. Never again.

how does ctek compare to battery tender? thanks. it is a bit confusing why ctek has so many models without clear difference. why couldn't these makers make their product line a bit cleaner and keep the model name informative?

If you have a basic 12v lead-acid battery, just get a cheapie. If you have an AGM or exotic battery, you need something better. Otherwise, save $80. https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-021-0123-Junior-Charger/dp/B000CITK8S/ref=sr_1_9?dchild=1&keyw... [amazon.com]

3 years should be the minimum expectancy for any car battery, most people get 4-6 with lead acids if they're not used hard.

Agree,

It is confusing. My car has an AGM high power battery. So this is the logic of elimination I followed:

The CT5; tells you when it is ready to go --> don't need that
The MUS 4.3 can runs a test --> don't need that

So it was between the MXS 5.0 and the 7002. the 7002 is sold in Europe as the MXS 7.0 and should have a higher output. For the little extra costs, I just picked the 7002.

Not scientific, not tested, but it helped me decide. The other poster is correct, the cheap once should do as well. My car can be connected through the cigarette lighter with a special adapter and CTEK has one that hooks up to all their chargers, so I went for CTEK. Especially since the current prices on Amazon are great.

I have the 3300. No idea if it's the best one. I use it for my weekend Corvette. Sleeps all winter. I do like the quick connect lines.

Have had a MUS 3300 for about 12 years and it has worked flawlessly. Picked up the MXS 5.0 for a second card/

Thanks!

It looks like they did go up in price. I did a quick search and found older deals, but no new deals since 2018. This is now the cheapest price and a good discount from retail which is what most vendors charge.
