I had bought this phone when it was released. It was very nice, but it did not support VoLTE or VoWiFi on T-Mobile US. Just a warning to those considering. All calls will go over a 3G connection, which means voice coverage will be limited.

$170 would be closer to the fair market value

Asus gives more updates than LG or Moto and delivers faster updates than Samsung so I have no clue what you're going on about. This phone has had Android 10 since November

Interesting, and I recall it getting decent reviews, but still seems a bit steep to me for being niche (fewer accessories). I thought it had OLED, but looks like it's IPS. Also, no band 66 or 71.

Solid enough deal on a new phone from 2 years ago but you can get last year LG flagships in open box and refurbished condition for less than this

This was their flagship phone from 2018 if I'm not mistaken. Took them forever to finally release it after announcing it at CES and after releasing the "light" version (5Q) well before it.

It is a solidly stacked phone in terms of specs, but it's ASUS. My brother had the 5Q. Admittedly that is their "light" version, cheaper, but no company should encourage you to get a phone you don't want through limiting updates. Updates for the 5Q took forever and probably have since stopped, while the 5Z got many more updates. My brother changed over to the Pixel 3A and never looked back.

If the 5Q is any indication, updates, if they haven't already stopped, will stop soon enough. Then you have companies like OnePlus who are still actively updating phones from 3 years ago (OP5). I'm an OP6 user and still get updates.

Do yourself a favor... skip ASUS.

Wrong. Asus has given OnePlus level support to their flagships and drops updates no more than 2 weeks or so after the Pixel phones over the past 2 phone cycles

I'm sure it's not entirely coincidental that it lines up with the major push by Google of project treble but Asus is one of the companies taking it seriously

My post was about the 5Q if you reread it. Frankly no company should treat any phone like second rate. The pixel 3A is the "light" version of the Pixel 3 yet gets plenty of love. Asus on the other hand treats their light phones like crap. What does that say for the future of old phones being replaced by new flagships? The Zf6 is out.... it means the future for the zf5z is cloudy at best.

No it means that like every other flagship it'll get another year of support. And Samsung, LG, Moto, no one is updating their budget phones besides Apple and Google so by that logic they're the only 2 companies anyone should buy a phone from

Thanks for the heads up. I'm looking for a dual sim phone to handle TMO on both Sims. I have TMO for both with and home and prefer having only one phone. I'm using the pixel 3a right now and the dual SIM (using the esim on my home account) is great, but could use a more powerful phone.

Fair enough. I'll edit my post on updates, but my other points are still valid. This is too steep for what you get.

Also, I like Moto and my v35 is good, but it's not like Moto or LG set a high bar with updates.
