If these are on par with the Fender PA systems this is a great deal! 10" won't produce a huge thump, but these will be perfect for live acoustic performances and speech.

Enough for a basement band practice to hear vocals over drums?

I'd say yes. Vocals don't require a lot of power or big drivers. Bass would be the weak point with a setup like this, vocals should be able to play very loud.

Good for home karaoke? If not, any inexpensive recommendations?

I have one of these from before I decided to eliminate Monoprice as a supplier due to very bad customer service on another purchase. It's a decent, if not a very good, PA for the money. It's 4 channel. Portable. Easily packable. Not too heavy. Good for small venues. Has phantom power, XLR and 1/4" inputs. Weak on tone controls and sound shaping. I think I bought it for around this price. You'll need a pair of speaker stands, running around $50 a pair. You'll also want to upgrade the speaker cables at some time. Not necessary to do, but thicker gauge will improve the sound. I don't do business with Monoprice anymore as they completely screwed up delivery on a bass. They failed to deliver and made tracking and getting a replacement or refund very difficult. I have lots of their cables that were good values. This PA was a good value. One note: The reviews are right about the weakness of the cable storage door. It's a pain. But a $120 PA might be worth rolling the dice on...even with them.

It depends on the type of music you play and how loud your drummer is. Personally, I would want 100 watts RMS or more per monitor in a full band setting for most styles of music. These would work for jazz or brush heavy styles, but not if your guitar player insists on cooking the power tubes for good tone.

A little OT but who did you replace monoprice with? Curious.

Excellent idea. My neighbors let their devilish toddler storm and run all over their unit despite knowing that they live above people.
