I would only get this if you're planning to use it for work/school. I bought it last year because I wanted a tablet and it just doesn't work well as one. It's too big and heavy to be comfortable in portable mode and the battery life sucked.

Returned it and got a Tab S6 instead and couldn't be happier with the decision.

Love my surface pro, but don't buy the 4GB/i3 model.

That's just not enough RAM for a full windows device.

My guess is that Microsoft is trying to clear inventory of their 4GB RAM models cause 8GB has become the norm for those who want to do some multitasking (and run Chrome).

Too big? They created the Surface Go. Something smaller and even lighter
Too heavy? The Surface Pro is literally 1.7 pounds. You really don't find anything else lighter than this in the market of a tablet / windows computer.

Besides that, Surface Pros are some of the best laptops with the best battery life in the entire windows laptop market. Nothing really compares to how well Surface Pros last and perform

Lol so it sucks and then you recommend it to students, implying they somehow do lesser things than you. Could you be any more condescending

If you're a game design or art student this thing is junk. Not useful for photo/video editing, compiling, etc.

Even if an individual does none of those, price/perf ratio is still down in the gutters.

It's not the best dedicated tablet, but it's the most capable machine overall that I've ever used.

I'd suggest that if you want it as a tablet, check to make sure it has the apps you need first. The Windows store is a wasteland, but I could find at least 1 alternative to the few apps I actually use on my Android device.

Also, don't get 4 GB of memory. 8 is the absolute minimum to make this device useful.

I still have the SP3 i5 and it has to be faster than this! However it only has 128gb SD drive...I don't use it much since I use Mac...Only when I need to update something that requires a Windows machine...

Posting from my 2 month old SP7 now.
Just a heads-up that if you leave the machine unattended for even just a minute, it randomly shuts down. Adjusting power settings has no effect. There are several message boards with people seeking help on this issue and thus far, MSFT has not been able to provide a solution.

Yeah, if you want a dedicated tablet a 2-in-1 will never be nearly as good at that job.

2 in 1's are more for when you want the flexibility of very occasional tablet use IMO.

it sucks as a windows laptop and it sucks as a tablet. This device doesn't have a use. Better off getting a tablet with a long battery life like the 10" ipad for like $250 and something like the flex 14 or a real laptop for everything else.
