The MS-DOS version of Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego is far superior
Nope. It's a set of cheap paperboard components that could fit into a small envelope, won't withstand much of any play, and the game is a carbon copy of Clue. This was made for sale specifically for Wal-Mart and unfortunately this is represented in the low quality and level of effort.

The only saving graces:
Once you toss the box you can keep the game in minimal space.
There's at least minimal elements of geography.
This adaptation drops the murderous theme of the original Clue.

As I play the game with a very young toddler we have played it cooperatively but without revealing each other's hand of cards (except during the Q&A round).

I received the game effectively free with another board game I enjoy... and yet I would still argue I overpaid.

Good luck!
Jon
Yes, this the one I remember! Spent hours playing old school MAC version. It's still available for free download at myabandonware dot com. The graphics are horrendous although the game was top notch and quite immersive at the time. Ah, the memories...

Blast from the past. I remember watching that game show as a kid and playing the video games. Guess this games is based on the Netflix series [netflix.com] though. Seen a few episodes with the kids. It was good. Thanks for the deal.

The video in the description helps explain how the board game works for those that haven't played the game since they were kids.

I'll leave one more positive comment for a game whose components you'd better off printing at home: if you're familiar with the original game/books/show but not familiar with the new Netflix series (as for the Netflix series I was not and still can't say that I am beyond the next item) be ready for the fact that Carmen is now the protagonist/hero.

I actually liked this change in the game (we're saving cultural treasures, not stealing them) but I can imagine someone missing the feel of their childhood setting (what if they released a version of Oregon trail where you just launch a buffalo preserve in Independence, MO and go nowhere?).

Really need to play Clue but not play actual Clue? Go cold turkey. This game isn't worth actual money (maybe pennies at a resale shop/garage sale... but it's not built well enough to last that long after initial purchase).

Good luck!
Jon

This is a Wal-Mart exclusive. If you see this on Amazon then that's only by way of 3rd party resellers.

Good luck!

Who else got the theme song stuck in their head as soon as they saw the thread title?

If you ever get a song stuck in your head, and want to get rid of it, the trick is to sing the ending. This fools your brain into thinking you are done with it.
