Edit the picture - the pictured saw is model KRS 1824B-03 for $99, not $79.

Tried twice, but SD kept rejecting the photo I pulled from Lowes. Link is correct though and the actual photo is available there.

Battery costs pretty penny if you already don't have those 24v batteries!

They can be expensive. I got their 6 tool set a couple months back and it came with two batteries, but you can buy items like trimmers and such that include the batteries already. Kobalt's cordless tools are solid. I've used everything but the impact driver so far, and not disappointed.

They also have the two pack battery for 129 with free tool. Not a bad deal with one of the off tools that dont come in a set (I got the ratchet). I also just picked up the 6 tool set for 112 and I am fairly impressed. So i now have the 6 tool set plus orbital sander and ratchet. They blow my ryobi tools out of the water (although I am comparing brushed to brushless) also the brushed dewalt tools i have (drill&impact). I forsee these tools getting even cheaper though since I am starting to see kobalts new XTR line on the backstock shelves. For instance, i guess they released newer gen 40v tools and now my store has the 40v string trimmer kit with battery and charger marked down from 129 to 51. I assume these tools will get marked down similar eventually. Overall though I am very impressed with kobalt vs my experience with ryobi and dewalt.

Got this one handed recip the other day at $79 and really like it. Not sure it's a slick deal since I was also looking at the Dewalt version (I use 2 cordless platforms) which dropped to $99 around the same time. Looking at reviews the kobalt was more powerful but the dewalt vibrates less.

I have Ryobi power tools and I like them, but I would say the Kobalt power tools are built better. Ryobi is a good option if you don't want to spend the extra money, plus you can get third party batteries that are exceptionally cheap.

I have tools from both the Ryobi One + line (brushless jigsaw, trim router, and leaf blower) and the Kobalt line (the glorious 6 tool kit mentioned previously, hammer drill, and portable tire inflator).

The Kobalt stuff is hands down higher in quality and performance, but unless it's that crazy $112 clearance kit deal, you'll always pay a bit more vs Ryobi. Ryobi has a lot of tools for free with a $99 2 HP batteries and charger kit. That's how I got the router, and the brushless jigsaw was $129 w the same battery kit.

I hope for some better sales on the Kobalt stuff to complete my tool collection, but I fear this is about as good as it's gunna get.

This post is from awhile ago... the sale doesn't work online, but is valid in store through May 15th.. Not every tool is available, but quite a few are.

Don't forget the deal thats still going on I believe. The 2 battery pack with charger for $129, you get a free tool with it. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-2...1001845280 The website has only the circular saw, but there is a list of a bunch more tools that are included and if you go to the store on check out it'll take the price of the tool off the purchase.

They are not being discontinued. They are just starting to roll out their XTR line. I dont see them on the floor at my store but I do see them on the backstock shelves. They use the same batteries, but stronger tools (stronger impact wrench looks cool, plus all the other regular tools).

Yeah I agree it's a dope set for 200$... worth way more.

It is. I used this reciprocating saw to replace a wood fence panel. Had to cut off 1 ft and it cut through it like butter. I've used it for a few other quick projects too. I like that no tools are required for their power tools. The tool I use the most though is the oscillating multi-tool. Get the right attachment and that thing will do just about anything.
