I'm not super knowledgeable when it comes to hard drives. But this seems like a good deal for a NAS drive of that size with that RPM. Am I wrong?

Yes seems like a good deal. I got my 8tb's for 184 each which extremely hard to find now. I would say if you have the space for multiple hdd's then this is the way to go. If not I would hold out for a larger 10tb or more hdd. My 8tb's have been on solid for 2yrs, no issues.

How do these compare with WD Red Pro in terms of noise, power consumption, and reliability? I assume speed would be comparable?

I used my Amex 20% off the other day to buy two WD Red Pro 4 TB drives for about $106 each after discount and also bought two additional used ones for $95 each (from Amazon Warehouse). Now I'm wondering if I should return all those and get in on this deal instead. I don't necessarily need the extra space though, at least not for the next couple years.

(Buying them for a new QNAP NAS.)

I know Seagate is usually known to have reliability issues with their external drives. Does that also apply to the Ironwolf line of drives?

Very good deal. I have 4 4TB IronWolf drives (that I paid $109 each for) in a RAID5 array NAS running 24/7 & they have never missed a beat. I'm looking to upgrade to four 10TB or 12TB drives because I am out of space & I really need to future proof it this time.

If you have a need for a single drive, this is overkill, but if you have a NAS running multiple drives & you need about 18TB of storage (in a RAID5 setup), this is a good buy.

I have 8 of these in 6TB (RAID 10) and one in 8TB. No problems in the 20 months I've had them
