This deal sounds like a hot load of BS. My guess is that Gamestop is afraid of going bankrupt so they're pre-selling as many Switches as possible, in spite of having ZERO in stock. They're charging people $400 effectively as a loan to keep their company above water. I fully expect that they won't ship on that April 30 date, you'll be lucky to get a Switch by June if you take this deal. And TBH Gamestop might just go bankrupt before then.

You're misinformed, their real estate and assets prices them higher than their current stock price.

What does that mean for their survival this year?

Not really, it comes with an extra set of joy cons ($80 value) and a screen protector.

I don't claim have insider info, I'm just looking at their actions and they seem desperate. Refusing to shut down stores, trying to act like they're "essential retail", telling employees they have to work during a pandemic, and now this. They're taking as many pre-orders as they can get with a ship date a month out, they're clearly just trying to get as much quick cash as possible.

So either they're in big trouble, or they just have some TRULY terrible people in charge. Either way, I'm staying away from this "deal" and I'll be very surprised if they actually ship on the 30th.

I hate how Nintendo Switch is OOS everywhere.
I need one to play animal crossing. But Nintendo only lets you have one account per Switch for the game, effectively getting people to buy another switch and game.
I'm fine with paying another animal crossing game if it'll let me play it on the same Switch that has it.

That's the metric of a company about to fold or get bought.

In the text below the pre-order button it does say "Billing does not occur until order is processed", which I would imagine (hope) means you don't get charged until it ships.

Quite possibly they know there's a confirmed shipment coming to them and they are wanting that one big chunk of change coming as soon as the shipment is received instead of waiting for people to purchase throughout may until stock runs out.

Either way, I'm tired of seeing switches on let go and offer up for $450-$700

How can they get money when the transaction is pending?
