Sirius SiriusXM : Renew for $30/6 months or $60/year without having to call up

So this is new...

I went to my SiriusXM account. It was about to expire tomorrow, and I didn't want to pay their ridiculous "normal rates".

Normally, this means you have to call in and talk to a sales person who tries hard to sell you a crappy rate unless you hold firm for a while and then you get an OK rate.

Anyway, I was prepared for that. But I called in and...there are no CSRs available during normal working hours. Hmmm...I know, Coronavirus.

Anyway, I go back to the website and hit the "Cancel" button for my subscription. Normally, all this does is give you a popup about how you can call them to cancel.

But this time, it brought up a page saying "before you go, how about one of these offers...?"

And the offers were:

$30 for 6 months SIrusXM Select
$60 for 12 months SiriusXM Select
$100 for 12 months SiriusXM All Access

I picked the $60 deal. It came to $72 with taxes and fees. I was done in 30 seconds.

(All Access gives you more sports and Howard Stern, in case you're wondering).

Very happy not to have had to talk to a CSR.

This is likely due to the entire country of India being on lockdown. Just about everything is closed for 3 weeks, even some things we consider essential here. The CSR's probably can't do this from home and work from a call center that is locked down. I am pretty sure the customer service is handled in India.

Strange. When I opened the chat window, it actually put me in queue for a rep, even though I was like 50th+ in the queue.

No, the call center is in the Philippines. Time before last when I called to get the $99 deal, I chatted with the guy and asked him. Told him that we just took a cruise and most of the restaurant staff was Filipino and he had the same accent. He said, yes they in the Philippines.

Indian accent is quite different than Filipino accent.

Ditto for Sprint and Tracfone call centers. Filipino.

Judging from the background noise (very quiet) I think that they are all working from home now. If I hear a bird tweaking or a dog or a child, then I will know for sure. Although I hope I NEVER need to call Sprint or Tracfone ever again!

I think you have to go to "Help and Support" to cancel service
So I first log into my account. I see "My Subscription", "My Billing", "My Account Info", and "Help & Support" tabs. I go to "Help & Support" tab. I click on the "Cancelling Service" option. It then takes me to a page with 3 sections. "Transfer", "Modify", and "Cancel". I clicked on "Login to Continue" in the "Cancel" section, it just loops me back to the page after I first log in with the 4 tabs I first described. Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you for this. Have the All Access that was expiring next month and it was going to be $320 for another year. Just renewed at $100 for the same package.

It would have been $120.19‬, but my current subscription didn't end until 5/15 and was credited $15.90. Total charge was $104.29.

Don't get me wrong I do that as well. It becomes a headache when you get the wrong rep who doesn't know what they're doing and tries to hassle you for every penny and says they don't offer that all of a sudden when you know they do. It gets annoying when you're put on hold for them to check with their supervisor when it's a "special" deal that's offered every now and then so yeah it's not about being assertive at this point. It's a headache doing it over and over
As soon as they tell you that the first time, hang up. Call back later. Repeat until you get a rep that wants to bump their retention stats more than you want to quit.

No, they tack on some fees. $60 became $71.

$100 becomes $121 after fees.

Thanks, OP. Repped +4.

I figured it out.
As soon as you reach the page with the 3 sections. the "login to continue" button first shows "submit your request" you have to quickly hit that . within 1 second it switched to "login to continue" which keeps you in the endless loop. Maybe because im goign through a VPN. Took me about 5 tries before I saw the button quickly change.

This company is the worst, they make it painful to cancel and even if you do get them to supposedly cancel your account they just keep billing you. I finally requested a new credit card to kill their charges because I would rather cancel my card then call their customer service again (and yes I know about VCC, don't have one anymore unfortunately and my other cards kept allowing the charges to go through)

I would suggest everyone avoid SiriusXM, they are right up there with gyms in trying to get out of your membership...

Anyone able to got them to waive the "US music royalty fee" over the chat? Or do you have to call?

I am interested in the 1 year all access for 99 bucks, and is this the cheapest you ever seen or one of the cheaper ones? Before I can only do half year and had to stay on the phone for a long time.
I tried pretty hard and couldn't do it. Tried to get it waived and to add an extra month. Both denied. I still accepted it, because I had been paying full price for awhile. EEK!
