My kids love this gun, but be warned, it's heavy. Takes 4 D batteries

This is my edge in battle against the kids. Pretty solid, doesn't jam, I can use spare clips from other Nerf guns as backup, it is a bit of a battery hog though. Definitely buy at that price.

Holy crap. 4D? Did they at least place them smartly?

Because if they're too far back you'll tip up and too far forward you'll crater...

Could a four year old handle this or would it be too big and heavy?

If the 4 year old is closer to 5 than they might be ok. My 5 year old loves it and has no problem loading and using it.

If you want you can use 4 AA batteries in D sleeves. For general playing around the house I run most of my blasters on rechargeable AA batteries. You'll take a little performance hit with the rechargeables because they tend to have a lower voltage but they do fine for goofing around with the kids and save a lot on battery cost. Putting the AAs in this blaster also has the added benefit of decreasing the weight.

Doubtful. My 7 year old is just now big enough to handle this blaster. It's her favorite one now since it lets her reload and keep up with her brothers.

I purchased this back in December last year for the same price. I have a 5 year old who loves it. It is certainly a little heavier than other nerf guns with the 4 D batteries. The main con I would say is that it frequently jams up when you automatically load darts or when you try shooting some. That's the only frustrating part he doesn't like during our nerf battles.

The batter tray is all the way in the front making it very front end heavy.

The battery tray is in the stock dude, not the front.

100% correct. Not sure what blaster I was thinking of when I wrote that.

Please note, not all nerf guns will run on the AA in D sleeves.....I have a rhino blaster and
The sleeve trick doesn't work

That's weird. I have two Rhinos, and I use Eneloop AAs inside Panasonic D adapters.
