So, in case anyone is wondering why you might want to upgrade, the answer only applies if you have a nice 4k TV with Dolby vision.

The older shield is still nice, but if you are using something like Plex on a nice new 4k TV, and you have a 4k HDR dolby vision atmos movie, it's not going to pass that through. Only the 2019 model supports Dolby Vision, among other things. I use a home PC as my Plex server, so I don't need the Pro model for server hosting, however, be aware that this $130 unit is a 32-bit unit, while the $200 unit is 64-bit.

Many Google Play apps will not work on 32-bit software, like the Dolphin emulator, if you were using your shield as classic game emulator. My guess is the reason they do this is because it only has 2GB of RAM and 64-bit systems run like crap on 2GB, while they run great on 3GB, funny enough, yet the 32-bit systems run just fine on 2GB.

The lack of compatibility is a deal breaker for me, personally.
i still see no reason to replace my two old NVIDIA shield TV.
Excited about lotion? Well the ibotta app always has cash back and coupons for Nivea lotion. Happy moisturizing.

Damn it! Whenever I see a pop-up notification for this product, my eyes *always* think it's for Nivea shower-something/lotion!
EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Also the feedback provided by Nvidia to retailers was that the pro models will be back ordered until June for "parts and materials" that was before the COVID-19 impact so it may potentially be delayed even longer.

Are you talking about the upscaling to 4k? I've been wondering if that's really good or just hype.

The upscaling works, it's not like images popping at you, it's good though. Noticable . They even give you a demo mode. With and without u can activate anytime

It's overall hype. On my 75" set I can hardly notice a difference and thats split screen. Doesn't come close to true 4K
4K upscaling is not meant to replace a native 4K content. But the difference is noticeable, and noticeable is good enough.
