I got in on the ebay refurb deal for $70 linked in the OP. Chunky? Yes, but I'm pleased with mine, especially for the price . . . though I am having trouble getting bluetooth to work on it.
I bought the eBay refurb as well and really like it. Sound is fantastic.

I'm wondering why JBL is unloading these? New version coming out?

Debating replacing my 8" Lenovo smart display for this. My Lenovo has trouble recognizing voice commands when it's playing music and podcasts. It often thinks it heard "hey google" when it's playing podcasts.

Bought the refurb as well for the improved audio and I can say it sounds amazing compared to the Google Home and Mini. I do have occasional issues with Spotify not playing, but I'm not sure if it's Spotify or the system.

I got rid of my Lenovo's and got two of the JBL's because they are better in every way in my mind. I had the 10 and 8 of the Lenovo's and neither one compares in sound quality to the JBL. It is definitely bigger, has much better bass response and better overall dynamics. The screen may not be quite as sharp, but for me it's perfectly fine.

I got in on the jbl refurb deal as well. Other than the brown box packaging it's hard to tell whats been refurbished. Screen had protective film on it. Speakers and units over all appeared clean and had that new electronics smell.

Of the 3 one did have issues with touch sensitivity. That one went back. The other two work fine. I haven't tried the BT pairing yet. Mainly one is used as an overglorified alarm clock with phone/music and verbal wake pc capabilities.

The other for playing fm radio, video chat, and some youtube. Good deal for $70.

I got the refurb, it's worked great. I agree with others the sound is really good on it. It provides good high and lows. Vocals actually have some definition.

Have the Lenovo and the jbl refurb deal. I do use the Lenovo in portrait mode to make video calls. And the camera angle and the screen colors and angles ar better. But jbl sound has much better bass.
