This is a good deal for right now, however, this has gone on sale with the two pack of 3Ah batteries and a charger in the past, and I would expect that tred to continue. If you need it now, this is a great price! If you can wait, you might find a better deal down the line.

Right.

Ryobi Days is next month (if not canceled by coronavirus), which may present a better deal.

Seems high. You can get the Milwaukee M12 one for about $100. M12 does have a smaller cut capacity though FWIW.

That was my thought, this is pretty pricey for Ryobi vs Milwaukee. I'm curious about performance as those are my two lines of tools, M12 and Ryobi 18V.

Since this isn't a tool I have an immediate need for, I'll hold off for now. Hopefully HD gets an influx of returns and we see it on directtools soon!

Other than pipes what could you use this for, seems kind of limited and I'm a Huuuuuge ryobi fan but I dont think I would ever buy this.

Like you said, it's good for cutting things like pipes, but really you need to spend a lot more to get a good band saw. Most of these cheaper ones are extra noisy.

This is a good video on using a stationary [youtube.com], which is probably the best way to go if you're a DIYer.

2.5" cut makes it more of a toy
i cant say I often cut tubing more than 2.5 inches with the bandsaw

I just used mine to cut some pipe yesterday. I absolutely love it. It is quiet (contrary to the previous poster who thinks it must be noisy because it's cheap), cuts are fairly quick, and the battery lasts for quite a while. I did get mine as part of a $99 kit, and after the battery cancellation, the final cost for the tool only was $56.

Summary: Great tool but not a great price.

It can cut multiple items other than pipes. Threaded rods, rebar, angle iron, 2x2 metal, wood molding, even a crankshaft. Anything that can benefit from one-directional cutting and precision.

I didn't say this one was noisy. I said "most" cheaper ones are noisy. Personally I've never used this one. I wouldn't pay $180, but maybe a good buy for someone who cuts a lot of pipe.
Actually, you said "most of these cheaper ones", which implies inclusion. So, if you've never used this one and you don't know if it's noisy, why advise against buying it other than it falls below what you believe to be the appropriate price for a bandsaw?
