The H.K. Porter 24 in. short-nosed heavy-duty bolt cutters are among some of the strongest cutters in the HKP brand line. The short-nose design allows material to be placed deep in the jaws for maximum force to be delivered during the cut. This tool features center-cut, carbide-tipped blades that are intended for cutting hard- and non-alloy chains and padlock hasps.

•Proudly made in the USA
•Short-nosed jaws with high-tempered, center-cut blades
•Cuts hard, non-alloy chain
•Maximum hardness of material to be cut: Brinell 455/Rockwell C48
•Lock plate keeps jaws from loosening
•Toggle joints turn 50 lbs. hand pressure to 4000 lbs. cutting pressure
•Screw-type adjustment realigns edges
•Heavy duty straps
•Never use any H.K. Porter cutters on energized circuits, wire, or cable
•Cuts non-alloy padlocks up to 5/16 in.

Wow, still made in the USA. That is an amazing price. I just wish it was a larger model!

What does short nose refer to? Does this limit its use greatly?

Great deal. I wish I could justify the buy, but I have yet to encounter a use for bolt cutters which wasn't dispatched with an angle grinder or recip saw. YMMV.

going to take a guess but the cutting tip is shorter, thereby allowing the user to get in to tighter spaces like shorter shackles or links, etc.

A friend borrowed my last bolt cutter and it never returned ...

Not sure the $120 made sense, but $36 sure does, Thanks!

The bolt cutter is quicker, quieter and easier to carry for the thief who is breaking into your building, if you're still using a pad lock.

I don't think the short nose really matters. You shouldn't be cutting stuff at the top any way. I got it primarily for installing closet maid stuff. It will work perfectly. I have a old junk pair of 18" that didn't "cut" it.

My Order is still Processing. If this was Amazon, I would expect a Cancellation to be coming soon ...

I noticed that Home Depot has another model of HK Porter. It is called 'Industrial' (which sound stronger than Heavy Duty), and it is only $78 (on sale for $75). I see in its reviews, it claims to be Made In USA, but on receiving, it is only Assembled in USA. I hope that is not true. If I thought I was buying Chinese metal, I would have bought the $16 Harbor Freight Bolt Cutter.

I don't think they are much different. Both claim 4000 lbs of cutting power and will cut the same hardness of material. As far as being total made in the ISA, I have no idea. But HK Porter seems to sell higher end bolt cutters. They should be a big step up from HF.

I agree. The specs sound the same. I was pointing out, the one that sounds stronger, full price is $78 vs $120. I figure this is really a 50% Off deal (which is still a good deal).

I expect this will be much better than a HF. That said, HF tools are usually good for a few uses. I use a bolt cutter maybe once a year. If I bought the HF when I needed it, and used it and it failed, I could return it.

Mine still has not shipped. Anyone else's ship?

That is why I got these. I only use them a few times a year and my old cheap pair broke. I have not seen it ship, but I ordered a few things and most of my order has not shipped.

I ordered one but apparently, Home Depot decided not to let it through and it's still sitting in my cart saying it's no longer available online. Good luck to anyone getting it shipped.
