I totally agree. I own two pairs of these, one with Vibram soles and one without. The pair with Vibram soles is so much more solid under you foot. You could step on a small rock and it wouldn't hurt your foot. That's not the case with the ChacoGrips sole.

Both are comfortable and can be worn around the yard or to the beach but if you're going to wear them for a long time, in different terrain or if you have the option between the two...definitely find a pair with Virbram soles.

It's not all of the Z2 classical sandals. It's the ones under the "sale" tab that don't currently have a sale price. I think they're in the $80 range.

Really prefer them with Vibram soles, rather than ChacoGrips.

The toe loop versions are pretty much invariably worse than their non-toe loop counterparts. Would definitely recommend waiting for a sale on one without the loop. Both of these have them. Everyone I know that has a pair has said the same, and these are outdoorsy people. It's really an uncomfortable hassle you don't need and makes for another thing that needs to be adjusted and re-adjusted when you take them on and off or if your toes swell while or after wearing.

Can you even buy Chaco's with Vibram soles anymore without going the Custom route?

To each their own. The toe loop makes them more secure on my feet when hiking/canoeing. I have never had a issue with it and wouldn't buy them without it.

I don't know the answer to your question. My Vibram soled pair is a few years older so maybe they have stopped making them. I'd say that in either case it is still worth keeping in mind that if you're interested in Chacos because of a friend telling you how great they are (that's how I found out about them), it might be asking your buddy about the soles because they do make a difference.

I've owned Chacos for years and they're my favorite footwear. I would wear them to weddings and funerals if I could... they're just so comfortable and versatile! I have worn both the toe-loop and without toe-loop styles and I prefer the ones WITH the toe-loop for hiking, crossing creeks, etc. They are a bit uncomfortable at first but once worn-in and properly adjusted they provide more stability for me. Among my outdoorsy friend group, the joke is that the non-toe loop style aren't real Chacos. Getting used to the toe-loop is almost a rite of passage! But to each his own!

I am 10.5. I should go for 11 or 10? is it run big or small? And which one is more comfortable, the Classic or the ZCloud? TIA

Go for the 11. I typically wear a 9.5 and my Chacos are 10.
