The only thing I'd complain about is the 2 cell battery.

How is cell count relevant
you should be looking at power capacity which is pretty good at 54wh

Months ago I bought the Acer Spin 3 which is the same as this basically
Core i5-8265U
8gb ram
256gb ssd
14" 1080p touch
it was $340 from staples

This deal looks more like a normal price these days for these specs... not really a 'slick deal'

That weighs almost 4lbs and has a relatively poor build quality when compared to the Swift, which are dealbreakers for a lot of people. Specs aren't the only thing.

The one you linked is a 15.6" and has a touchscreen. It may be worth the $50 upgrade to some.

Otherwise, the specs do seem comparable and they're both part of the Swift 5 family.

I believe they're exactly the same, the specifications for the provided link show that this is a touchscreen as well. Which is unfortunate because I really like this laptop with the exception of it having a touchscreen :[

*Edit, same with the exception of screen size, both appear to have touchscreens though.

14" vs 15.6" (huge difference actually)
3.7 lbs vs 2.2 lbs
plastic vs magnesium
58% srgb vs 98% srgb
200 nits vs 300 nits
loud, humming fan vs silent fan
I'm sure there's more, but as you can see there's more to a laptop than just cpu ram and ssd.

I tried googling around a bit but wasn't able to find any literature on disabling the touchscreen digitizer. I've been leaning toward this laptop but touchscreen and potential impact to battery are downsides.

It just depends on what your needs are. I'd prefer the Swift as it's built better and is lighter.
