This is a great price but the reviews are really bad on the JBL. Basically don't buy it for the android tv, but a soundbar + sub

FWIW, I tested one as per of the JBL Backstage Pass program. I really enjoyed the sound, but the sound bar failed on me after a couple of months. They sent me a replacement and I just decided to sell it. I have a full ht anyway. I thought the sound was exceptional and you could get away without the sub, but at this price WITH the sub, it's a steal IF they upset the system software/capabilities in the future.

My original review:

Really awesome sound but integration needs work.
I really really love the sound out of this sound bar. It can get loud if you need it to, and it plays a wide spectrum of sound. Don't expect room shaking bass, but you can expect really good midbass that trails off below 60 or so hertz. If you're after a speaker for music and TV this works pretty well. You can use it with Spotify connect which is a big plus because you can control it and play music right from Spotify without even being on your WiFi. Premium subscription to Spotify is required for this feature.

The biggest drawbacks I've found with this sound bar are two fold. 1: you cannot add the link bar to a room in google assistant or google home. 2: you cannot add this speaker to a group in your google home/assistant. That's the biggest drawback for me because I have whole house audio that is managed through speaker groups in google home. This might be something that can be resolved through software, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Setup was pretty straight forward. It will get tricky the more devices you will have hooked up to it.

Overall, I find this sound bar sounds a lot better than others I have auditioned and I would buy it just for that reason. It gets down pretty low and can definitely be used without a subwoofer in my mind. It won't give you thunderous bass without the sub, but I think it's suitable for most people who don't have the real estate for a sub or are not worried about pounding the ground.

So, I guess I am going stir crazy at home, but I decided to buy this soundbar! Lo' and behold this soundbar has a built in android tv and chromecast. It seems the Android tv functionality is limited but if you pair it with a google home mini, you pretty much get a fully functional system! I am super excited to set this up! Thx for the post op!

I'm just gonna throw this out there for anyone that it might work for...
It's a little advanced for someone who wants a plug and play setup, but if you're the least technically inclined, it shouldn't be too hard.
You'd be amazed how much better you tv speakers sound if you can eliminate the bass they are asked to reproduce and send it to a subwoofer. No sound bar required. It's what I did and the sound really blows me away for the price! $90 in my case.
Luckily, my Vizio tv has two features that allow this to work....
1- it can send audio out of the tv speakers AND the rear audio output at the same time.
2- you can set the audio leaving the audio jack on the back of the tv to be "variable" rather than "fixed".
What I did was connect and actual subwoofer ($90 part express Dayton sub-100) up to the rca/phono jacks on the back of the VIZIO and set those jacks to output variable output. Using the tv's audio equalization I set the tv bass to "flat". I played some bass tones (80 hz) through both the tv and the subwoofer and played with the polarity/phase switch (0 or 180) on the subwoofer until I got the strongest bass at my seat. I also used the low pass frequency on the knob to cut out any overlap of upper bass that the sub and the tv were trying to play at the same time. You CAN do this by ear using bass test tones on YouTube, but if you have a spl meter or spl meter app on your phone you should get better results.
Anyway, the end result for me was amazing for just adding a sub. I've had this setup for a couple years now and still loving it Smilie

With all these wireless subs ( no aux in) , what do you do, when the soundbar stops working ?
Throw the sub in trash.
This is a classic example of a good sub, but no aux in, works only with this model of soundbar only....

When you get a chance, mind sharing your opinion on the sound quality to price ratio?

I'm interested but I have an issue with bar placement. Says 40in but I only have 39in. looks wall mountable. Could I mount this on my ceiling and get good sound?

You said it's your original review... have they fixed the bars ability to join a group of speakers? I use jbl link speakers around my house and would want this to connect to them. That may be the only reason I would want this. As much of a good deal as it is

I'm not sure unfortunately. I never hooked it back up to see. Recently got rid of it without opening the new box.

I just set it up today and the wireless sub is great. The sound from the soundbar is very impressive but definitely not a substitute for a nice surround sound setup, that being said I am super impressed...I already sideloaded cyberflix and some other apps to the soundbar! Well worth the money! And I can confirm it now can be added to a group
