Amazon subscribe and save question

I just placed a subscribe and save order at Amazon and received this message, The price of your subscription may change based on the price of the item(s) in your order at the time the order is processed. What does this mean? Is my cost of the item not locked in when I place the order? I know the price can change from month to month but I thought the price was locked in for the first order. Has this changed. I use subscribe and save every month and always just cancel my subscriptions and reorder every month to lock in the price. I don't remember seeing this message before. I tried contacting them but frankly couldn't figure out how.

I confirmed this with an amazon rep. The price for your first S&S is locked in but all the subsequent ones may be lower or higher depending on the market price. If you skip a delivery then even the first delivery price may change. The Email you receive prior to your second and later deliveries will indicate the price you'd be charged when they get shipped. I have verified this by checking prices on my first deliveries and they are what I was initially given, even if the price had gone up since setting up my S&S.

Thanks, I just don't remember ever seeing that message before. I was afraid things had changed in these crazy times, like the fact Amazon seems almost impossible to reach. The best I could do was live chat with a worthless bot.

To tack on to what elbercho said - I think they've had that or similar wording on there for a while*, but yes, the first order should be locked in as long as you don't change the delivery date (either by skipping the first month, or by changing the day of the month that your S&S items are due). You can verify the amount you will pay by looking at the "your orders" page at any time, or the email they send a few days before your delivery date. If the order isn't listed on the "your orders" page, then I think that means that the delivery date was changed and the original order (and price) are no longer valid, or rarely, Amazon dropped the item from the S&S program and canceled the order.

I think things are different with everything that is going on. I just went thru mine the subscriptions were there but the original orders were canceled for many of my orders. This resulted in many items that would have shipped at 4 times the price. I've just been checking them the night before. I had been fixing it as I noticed it but they will do it again by the next morning.

Thanks this was my fear too. I am currently not confident that the price is locked in on my first orders. Guess I'll just wait and see what happens.

I have the same concern. All of my old order numbers are no where to be found, and the invoices listed in my account have been changed (all significantly higher). Seems suspect. It appears they've changed the Subscribe & Save policies.
