I got in on the previous deal and have been using Venn Mobile for about a month now. My use is primarily for the hotspot and I am surprised at how fast and reliable that is. There does not seem to be any throttling of speeds even as I am burning through hotspot data.
If you were on the fence before, I recommend giving this a try. Worst case is that you are out $17+ tax (and any SIM card fee you might need to incur).
I tried Visible as well - it's a great deal, especially with the Party Pay rates. But I had to give it up as a hotspot. Even for basic email, it was nearly unusable. Talk and text were fine but data was very slow - felt like dial-up speeds. That unlimited hotspot is tempting but in practice it is very disappointing and frustrating to use.

As for Venn, I had a compatible phone and did not incur a shipping charge although I did purchase a new SIM. Both Venn and Visible are relatively inexpensive and with no contract obligation, you can give each a try and see which works best for your needs.

FWIW I am in the DC area and am curious what the experience on either of these providers has been for others in the area.
Yep, if you have an iphone or galaxy phones. You can connect more than one device. I can connect 5 on my Note 10 plus. I don't wanna test more because the speed will be too slow.
I even use my other 4 lines to run all of my home devices, like TVs, ps4, and computer . No need to pay for home internet.Smilie

They charge revelatory fees.... Plus a $15 shipping charge on a device. Visible seems like a better deal to me as they have no hidden fees or hotspot limits

My hotspot with visible has been great. I use it to connect my two tablets for my kids. I like how it's unlimited too.

I bailed on Visible as data is SLOW, was double charged for service and they could not fix on website or app. I also did not play well with my Google Voice. As a example, I got 3-4mbps with Visible and with TotalWireless I got 80-100mbps.

That's great if Visible works for you. With the unlimited hotspot it is an incredible deal.
But Visible only allows hotspot use for one device at a time. Are you somehow able to connect more than one device with the hotspot? I actually didn't mind the one device restriction. It really was the slow data speeds that led me to give Venn a try.

So, need a CDMA phone?

Also, if the data in unlimited, what is the point of Hotspot?

I have one more month left on my Mint mobile. If I switch today (and I need to port number), I loose my 20 bucks for that one month. I have an old sprint SIM, but I am guessing I need to activate this right away to get a 17/mo rate? How often do they do 17/mo promo? I am hesitant to jump with 25 bucks worth of service remaining in my current account

Things that always seem to good to be true. Are. This service has been a nightmare for me. Customer service has been crazy. I had to go through 4 sim cards . Couldn't even activate my moms phone even though they verified it so we had to buy another. Its not worth saving 10-15 dollars a month for the hassle

How did you get 80-100mbps? The 3 big carriers can't even get that speed on their 4G LTE.lol

Annoying that it's only 6 months--if it was a year, great, but I don't want to be shopping around for another plan after only 180 days.
