I have battled so many all-in-one inkjet printers over the years, it isn't even funny. Every brand, so many different models. All eventually fail in the fussy/clogged print head category. I use mine to print photos occasionally, so a laser printer isn't something I've considered yet. In my quest to find a better printer, I came across this printer line from Brother (I got the MFC-J995DW for $150). I thought the 1 year ink must be a gimmick though, but gave it a chance and decided I can live with it - even if I can get 6-8 months from a set of cartridges.

I'll just say that the printer is fantastic! By default it seems to print just slightly lighter than you might expect (which I assume helps save ink). When printing photos, I use the highest settings and they come out with great contrast (darks and lights) and everything looks really really good.

It prints just as well as every other decent inkjet, but the ink really has lasted a long time! I bought my printer in September of 2018 and I'm still on the original ink - 19 months later! I'd say we print an average amount, maybe 50-90 pages or so a month. But I'm just now seeing the ink level indicators showing it is getting pretty low. No alarm or message that I need to replace them yet, so I'm not sure how much longer it will go. I bought replacement ink about 8 months ago in preparation for it to run out, but obviously haven't had to use it yet.

Anyway, if you do an average mix of printing with photos, I think this is a great printer!
For a normal inkjet, yes. However, this is one of the new inkjets that claims to have one year of ink included when you buy it, and have just big tanks that you fill up with ink, decreasing operating costs as well. They have a higher price.

Eew..are we back to 'white' colored computer components again?
Yes. I noticed that the new Epson line is white. Last Gen Epson were all black. What is old is new again. I would say white is the new black, but I don't feel like "Jumping the Shark."

By any chance, Are you waiting for the clear translucent plastic cases to come around again?

Thanks for replying on the coupon code. Instead of the 5$ coupon, you can also opt for a free Active Armband.

This explains the $25 off $75 off coupon which Staples has fairly often.
