Just my two cents, I bought this a couple weeks ago without looking at any dimensions beforehand. And when it arrived it is super small.
I have not used it yet but I'm assuming this will not be able to hold up a surf rod on the beach so not really sure where this will be used.
Neat concept but way too small, now sits in the garage waiting for garage sale.

In for 4, thanks OP. Will be great for catfishing from the bank at my local spot.

As KP stated, these are not suitable for surf fishing use. That application requires something larger and more heavy duty.

Don't plan on using it in sand.

I have some home made ones made from 2" PVC pipe, a couple of hose clamps and a short section of electric fence post strapped to it with the clamps.

Alternately, you can dremel out a 'stake' in the bottom of a piece of PVC pipe and have a self-contained solution that needs no assembly. Similar to this [alloutdoor.com]

Not sharing because it would be cheaper (unless you have the stuff laying around already), but it might be a distracting project to build and entertain yourself, all while avoiding the masses at Walmart.

I don't think these were ever designed to be used in the surf. The surf requires completely different equipment.

I have diy pvc pipes for the surf. Look on YouTube, cut the pipes at the store.

I have a few of these. These actually fit in my tackle box. I use them for catfishing.
