Signing up today starts the term immediately, with a termination date 12 months from today. You get immediate access to HBO Now, which will convert to "max" on the 27th.

A brief explanation of the difference between them (as posted by another user) can be found here: https://www.reviewgeek.com/41260/...streaming/

Yeah I they really did mess this up with all naming scheme, but it's really simple:

1) HBO NOW is for people who bought HBO directly through HBO's website, not through a cable provider. Basically for cordcutters who don't have cable with direct tv, comcast, etc. It's a standalone service for HBO content only.

2) HBO GO is for people who has HBO through a cable provider. This is so people can access HBO while they are "on the go" and not needing to be at home tied to their cable box. This is why you sign in with your cable provider's login.

3) HBO MAX includes all the normal HBO content but also most of WarnerMedia's properties like DC Universe, CW, etc. Don't like the "HBO" in "HBO Max' confuse you as it includes a lot more. You can think of it like Disney+ and how they not only include the normal disney catalog but other stuff they own too like Pixar, starwars, marvel, national geo.
My favorite part about HBO Max is no one knows what the hell is going on. I have HBO GO. i pay $15 a month. Hbo max, also $15 a month. Are they the same thing? No clue. Google it. Even subsidiaries of Time Warner, have no clue. WHAT'S HAPPENING?!?;?;?!!!!!;!;!?!;;&5369(_5;:_47:'6969420
I really hope this lives up to the hype, because Disney+ has been a real disappointment so far. I'm particularly interested in three things... the WB animated theatrical shorts, the Hanna Barbera library, and, most important of all, the Sesame Street library, which better have episodes from the first twenty seasons.

Seriously, forget "New Sesame Street" post- Jim Henson. The show that existed from 1969-1989 is the greatest television show of all time.

I was going to try to cancel and sign up for this offer, but my subscription just renewed on the 24th. So I'll have to wait to see if I can. Otherwise I'd just make a new account with a different card and email address for now.

I generally prefer to catch Real Time with Bill Maher and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver live. Typically have to wait about 7-8 hours for them to land in the on-demand library. Smilie

I rarely catch them live, but have you checked the HBO apps as well? Not just on demand through cable provider. I know I can pop open HBO Now at 9pm on Sunday and watch Westworld right as it's airing. Not sure cause I'm generally not up late enough to check for LWT

I'm a bit confused. Will our first charge of $11.99 be charged today starting our first month or on May 27th and HBO Now just be free this month?

Hmmm....I have HBO through cable and sometimes start a few minutes late on a show. Say I wanted to watch Westworld (I know there's only 1 left this season) and start it 5 minutes in, can I back it up 5 min to catch up? Or do I need to wait until the show is over and then watch it from the library? On TiVo and Xfinity I can back it up of course, wasn't sure about these streaming versions. Thanks

You bet! I probably will sign up for this deal. Hoping they can up the bitrate some beyond that which HBO Now typically delivers relative to Apple and Amazon.

Have had some issues with movies not being opened up to Amazon HBO subscribers for several days after their official HBO premiers. For example: I wanted to see if X-Men: Dark Phoenix is really as bad as folks say (it is) and had to wait on that to open up to HBO subscribers via the Prime Video app. Could have used my login for HBO Now but wanted to check it out at the higher bitrate.

Also appreciate the ease of navigation via the HBO Now app relative to HBO in the Prime Video and Apple TV apps.
