Fry's: SILO SL86V2 86" CLASS 4K UHD LED TV $1199

Got the normal email from Fry's but noticed this was an 86". I would normally skip right over the SILO brand name. But that is a lot of screen size for $1200 + tax.

Unfortunately not a smart tv, but specs seem ok. And I believe LG is the only other major manufacturer to make an 86" screen, maybe they are similar panels? Who knows... Not much info out there on this unit.

Side topic, I wonder why their Bay area stores are still open. The last time I walked in one of their stores, I couldn't find the items that I used to be able to find and most of their shelves were empty. They didn't even bother turning on the tvs and lights in the appliances.

Wow!!! That is a lot of real estate for the price. Although the direction fry's stores are headed, I am not sure if there will be any warranty should there be any issues...

Same as the one in Vegas! Ghost-town. I'm standing by for the "going out of business" sale. I remember clearing out a Circuit City everything I could fit in a bag for $50 HAHA! I think I was 16, and re-sold everything on ebay for $300 plus profit! (yes, Circuit City, so you know that was a while agolaugh out loud)

Think I'll just hold out for the 82" LG to come back at this price. This brand is impossible to find info on.

I wouldn't trust there to be any warranty on a 'Silo' brand TV. (And sort of ironically, Silo was the name of a large defunct electronics chain that went out of business in the early 90's.)

They are just using an 86" LG IPS panel; in these.

The 82" LG's are 82" Samsung VA panels.

Personally I would avoid all 86" tvs since they use LG's 86" IPS panel, majority of them have horrible flashlighting and IPS glow issues.

Well, shitty for dark movies at night but probably fine for cable TV and video games depending on the lag and 200 other factors.

Lack of reviews has scared me far far away from Silo. If I go cheap next round, it will be TCL.

Really tempted to be the Guinea Pig on this...

Just got a 75" but could always finance this (of course, w/ the extended warranty), and see if it's worth keeping..

Did you go with the 75" Silo? Or other brand? If Silo, any feedback (which may or may not really apply to the 86")

I went w/ the 75" Hisense from Best Buy. Love the tv - big upgrade over the 65" they have/had (returned that twice in 2 weeks).

Went to look at the 86 today - picture appears great (I was only able to view the store-wide video); cosmetically, it's brushed black metal for the bezel, which I thought looks really good. Only negative is the words "SILO (TM)" are excessively large. Toying w/ seeing if I can 36 mo finance this, of course w/ the added warranty....
